Washington Post: Israel has but a single objective in Gaza -- peace »
Posted By israeligirl1 11 months ago in NewsLate Saturday, many Gazans received cell-phone msgs from the IDF, urging them to leave homes where weapons are kept. Israel is so scrupulous about civilian life that it contacts enemy noncombatants in advance to warn them of approaching danger. Hamas deliberately places its weapons in and near the homes of its own people.

Well, shameful that the Washington Post prints a racist, ethnic cleanser like Krauthammer who has called for genocide of christians and moslems. A more accurate description of zionist actions is this:

Israel’s Lie Machine Working Flat Out To Dodge “Killer” Question
While the murderous assault on Gaza continues, I notice there's a briefing document on the website of the Israeli Embassy in London which has a lie in every line. The West's mainstream media repeat them, and even the most senior TV and radio interviewers don’t bother to challenge them.
The document is a transcript of Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni's statement to the Israeli press dated 27 December 2008 – a day that will live in infamy. It is a perfect example of the falsehoods used to dupe not only us Westerners but Israel’s own people. The statement shows how the regime's view of itself is constructed on a web of dishonesty and self-delusion. For example:
"Israel left Gaza in order to create an opportunity for peace."
Israel never left Gaza. It still occupies Gaza's airspace and coastal waters and controls all entrances and exits.
....
"Israel continues to act to prevent humanitarian crisis and to minimize harm to Palestinian civilians."
Every agency operating in Gaza has warned of the deepening humanitarian crisis and protested about the starvation and suffering, especially of children many of whom show evidence of stunted growth.
.....
"The responsibility for harm to civilians lies with Hamas."
Not according to the Fourth Geneva Convention.
....
"Hamas is a terrorist organization, supported by Iran, that does not represent the legitimate national interests of the Palestinian people but a radical Islamist agenda that seeks to deny peace for the peoples of this region."
Hamas was the popular choice of Palestinians at the last election. It is entitled under international law to take up arms against an illegal occupier and invader. If it is supported by Iran, so what? Israel receives mega-support from the US. When it comes to terror, it is Israel's conduct which fits the US definition of terrorism so perfectly – see Bush's Executive Order 13224, Section 3.

peace?
why have peace with Gentiles and inflame the wrath of prominent rabbis who are advocating genocide and are claiming that according to their version of Judaism Genocide is acceptable if the victims are Gentile (non jews) ...but aside from all that...
What we are seeing is not a fair fight , it is barbarism being conducted by bunch of israeli savages on Palestinains. US and other powers should bomb israel to their senses just like they bombed Serbs in the Balkan war and/or arm Hamas with stinger missiles and all sorts of other armaments to be able to defend themsleves and make it fair fight. What we are seeing is not peace is barbarism and savagery, an integral part of israel's history.-

Try re-reading the article again. Then, if you still don't understand what it is saying, then you either 1) don't agree with it, 2) don't believe what the article is saying or, 3) You are too stupid to recognize that everything that the article is saying is absolutely correct. Israel did leave completely in 2005. They have absolutely no occupation in Gaza. They have been trying to contact the civilians before they bomb. They left Gaza to let the Palestinians build a solid infrastructure and responsible government for themselves- something that the Muslims in the last 1400 years of occupation until WWI refused to do. The facts speak for themselves. History, both the last 1400 years and the last 60 years is verifiable. All Hamas had to do when it gained control is to make peace and start building. They have done neither. They have however, fired thousands of rockets into Israel with the sole purpose of causing as much death and destruction as possible. If you don't believe it, go there yourself and stand in any part of Sderot during the rocket fire. I'll bet that as the rockets fall, pieces of brown stuff falls from your pants at the same time. I'll even pay all of your expenses and airfare. This is what the people of Sderot have had to live with for the last 7 years.

Fair fight? These people are killing each other; Hamas & their ilk want nothing other than the destruction of Israel. You only "fight fair" under such circumstances if you want to lose. For years now Hamas and Hezbollah have been lobbing dozens of missiles into Israel DAILY with the intent to kill as many Jews as possible with each one fired. Would you “feel” better about it if they had been more successful in their attempts? We also keep hearing this nonsense about "proportional response". Show me a person or a people who "believe" in proportional response and I will show you a person doomed to be a victim all their lives and a people who will be conquered and enslaved.

It ceases to be opinion when it is based in fact. Israel did leave Gaza in 2005, hence, no occupation. Hamas has been firing rockets into Israel since that time. No respectable government would continue to fire rockets into another country's cities without knowing that it will bring retaliation on it's people. The fact that Hamas continues to bait Israel only means that it has no regard for the lives of the people who elected them as their government. One of Hamas' top leaders who was killed by Israel yesterday had sent one of his sons on a suicide bombing mission inside Israel in 2000. That should tell you about how much life means to these animals. Everything that Krauthammer said is factually true, and can be backed up and verified by Journalists and historians. Not a single Muslim conqueror of this area has ever given the Palestinians autonomy. Israel is the first to offer it, even if Arafat and subsequent leaders have rejected the offer. That is factual and verifiable, hence it is history and it is news.

My heart goes out to the Palestinian people who, because they allowed Hamas to control them and put rocket launchers in schools, hospitals and homes, have to die or be maimed by the IDF who is getting sick and tired of those rockets being launched at them on a daily basis.
Reply
How many times should the Hamas cowards be warned
before they understand the IDF will protect their people from the rockets? Hamas knows they will hit the rocket launching sites; possibly kill some innocents and HAMAS will get lots of tears all around the world because of these horrible IDF murderers. Do they actually believe we're all that stupid?
People of Palestine...get rid of those cowards who use your children as shields...tell them to be MEN and go out to a desert somewhere and volunteer to fight to the death and please Allah - if they want someone to be martyrs for their cause, let them line up; go out to the battlefield, like MEN, and die happy!!!-

Didn't these people CHOOSE Hamas to control them? There were alternatives, but they rejected them. Hopefully, they will learn. But I wouldn't hold my breath.
These people have been educated to hate Jews and blame Jews since they were born. It's not about the land no matter what the liars posting here want to believe. It's about the Jews. It always has been and, unless they are taught differently, always will be. Just like it is for Hyperbola, Candida, and the rest.

Nobody expects Israel to lie down under fire. All I expect it to do is to make a single genuine attempt at negotiating peace. I don't know what it is trying to achieve with the current air raids (other then get the current government reelected), but my prediction is that it will just generate even more hatred among the Palestinians.

In the artical it mentioned about how people would put the blame on Israel, and as sad as it sounds this is already happening. My second oldest son was at a New Years party and a guy he went to school with was home for Christmas, This person is in his forth year of university and seems to be telling everyone that history is going to repeat itself, he is telling people that what the Jews did in Germany before Hitler is now being done in the US by the same families. Because of a bleak outlook in our economies and job prospects becoming less and less each day he is not having any problems finding sympathetic ears. With the conflict that is going on he was quoting numbers of 100 palistinian deaths for each Jewish death and that fact was one that most could not argue against. Also if one looks at the polls about the support for Israel defending itselve they have change drastically in the last few days. If this is a Public Relations story to try and change peoples mind I think that it is a little to late.

I do have one problem with this atrical and that is the title and the last statement of the story seem to conflict, or to me they do. -

Here we go again with the fairytale of terrorist Palestinians versus God's children, the Israelis. Why don't we just forget the fact that the Israeli military is illegally occupying every inch of Palestinians territories, stealing fertile lands and water sources. So what they left Gaza over a year ago, they roll their tanks into Gaza anytime they want to. Palestinians don't control their borders, Israel does on one side and Egypt on the other. Gaza is one crowded refugee camp. Even Bishop Desmond Tutu of South African says the Israeli chokehold of Palestine (my words) is worse than the apartheid system. The US media is reprehensible for keeping the American public ignorant of the real situation in Gaza and West Bank. But it's no an excuse since the facts are easily available on the web. Congress should stop sending our hardearned tax dollars, all $3 billion worth of military aid to Israel. We are just as responsible for the killing and wounding of hundreds of Palestinians since it is US made missiles and Apache helicopter gunships that are slaughtering Palestinian men, women and children. This assymetrical warfare of homemade rockets versus F-16s, Apaches, night goggles, and latest military technology is obscene. There will never be any peace without justice. Both the US and Israel, in particular are interested in preserving the status quo. After every episode of violence, Israel comes out the victor...minimal loss of human life, more lands appropriated, more settlements, more genocide of Palestinians. The question is will Barrack Obama be an honest broker or an enforcer of the status quo?

If you are an American do you have a sense of guilt when you visit most areas of our country that were gained by armed force? ever hear of manifest destiny?
There is not a developed country on earth that has not expanded its' borders by the use of force.
Israel's situation is a little different, most of the land they control beyond their 1948 borders are lands gained after being invaded & provide safety buffer zones - like the Golan Heights.
At one time Israel controlled the entire Sinai - but peace with Egypt resulted in returning it.

It's telling that, as pointed out by Gamahuche earlier on this thread, a man like Uri Avnery, who fought in the 1948 war for Israel, is willing to point the finger of responsibility directly at Israel and the US for NOT pursuing peace in any true sense but a blowhard like Charles Krauthammer gets to blame Hamas for everything and rationalize for Israel at every turn.

But, who has the tanks, heliocopters, airplanes, great artillery and want peace too, but on its own terms. Is there inequality of rights and guaranteed priveleges in Israel? Aren't Arabs. Semites? and isn't it true that the Average Israeli of the ruling class is a descendant of Khazaria, the Jewish Trade Empire and is not a Semite and whose ancestors never saw the Holy land? Isn't there room for compromise and Peace now?
