Blagojevich spokesman Lucio Guerrero confirmed that Reid (D-Nev.) and U.S. Sen. Robert Menendez (D-N.J.) — the new chief of the Senate Democratic political operation — each called Blagojevich’s campaign office separately Dec. 3. Sources believe that at least portions of the phone conversations are on tape. -

Fun fact: Jackson, Davis and Jones are black, Duckworth and Madigan aren’t. Over to you, Bobby Rush!

Harry Reid: Linking Obama to Franklin Raines is racist
We’ve been down this road before, haven’t we? Except last time, the race-baiting was being done by some random columnist and this time it’s … the Senate majority leader. Note how exquisitely casually it’s done, too. So commonplace is this sort of rhetoric among Democrats that it’s apt to bubble up even in the course of otherwise cheerful conversation.
His claim that there’s no connection between Obama and Raines except their skin color? A lie, of course. Click the image to listen.
seems Harry has a problem with race.......... -

Could be in about 3 or 4 years, we will be thinking how good things were with Bush!
Reply
Yes things could get worse, MUCH worse, as in, we may have not seen anything yet!
I hope that's not the case, but seems there's far to many unanswered question with the incoming administration??? Good Luck To Obama to get through all this very easily.
Buckle your seatbelts, this maybe a very bumpy ride...

Funny how the media covers up for the dems isn't? That story about Reid and peasants stinking up the capital, and Reid being called a racists for the comment, was a tiny little blip on the news media screen. If Reid was a Republican and said those things, the left would still be hanging him out to dry over it. They would have made a huge issue out of it. Dems get a pass yet again.

The Illinois legislature set up this fiasco by failing to act
Reply
They punted the mess to DC
"Illinois law gives the governor sole power to fill a Senate vacancy. Lawmakers considered stripping Mr. Blagojevich of that power after his arrest but could not agree on legislation -- a fact the governor, who had said he would support a bill calling for a special election, pointed out yesterday."

They could have had a special election but no! They were afraid that the Democratic Brand may end up with a Republican win and the loss of a Senate seat.
Reply
Now they have a mess on their hands.
Blago wisely put in a candidate of color and now they would have to deny a black man the position and one black politician is already calling them racist for even considering doing so.
And they say Republicans are hypocrites?

Duckworth is no surprise - a pro-war candidate with anti-war rhetoric. In other words, she talks the same crap as Reid and Pelosi.
Reply
Rahm Emanuel invested a lot of time and money into sinking Duckworth's dem opponent, a real anti-war candidate, in the primaries.
So while racism may be a factor, I would say that a willingness to tow the corrupt party line was DEFINITELY a factor in Reid's recommendation. -

I've heard it said "may we live in interesting times" and this is definately interesting. Wonder who we will hear about next? I can't wait for the movie. Geez, Fitzgerald must have enough tape for several movies. Wonder what they'll name it?

I would say Richardson stepping down shows that the government that Obama envisions is working. In his selection process, he stated that he wished anyone with a potential risk , be transparent about it. Richardson stepped forward and withdrew.... I would call that doing the right thing.

"corruption will be the downfall of this country"
BUT, you also go on to say "unless something is done about it."
Well, I'm a bit concerned that the people we would expect to do something about all this corruption are the exact people who are also the CORRUPT ONES involved with this crap.
Things don't look so good do they. Perhaps it's just our time to fail. I guess we can't pi$$ and moan to much though, we voted for it!

People in the know are saying that DEMOCRAT Blago is a true weasel, in an attempt to receive a leaner sentence Blago will take down as many as he can when he goes down (SQUEEL LIKE A HOG). BIG Heads may really start rolling over this one. You may need to watch Fox News to keep up with the latest Blago opera, most the other news sources are covering this up as best they can. This don't look so good for the democrats, it be very UGLY!

Maybe I am a bit blind to the crime committed by Reid. So far all I have read is he recommended a few of the possible choices and recommended against others. I believe that is called giving input to the situation not committing a crime. Also this occured before the arrest of Blago
Reply
"The Chicago Sun-Times reports that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., called Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich before his arrest to argue against his appointing Democratic Illinois Reps. Jesse Jackson, Jr., or Danny Davis or State Senate President Emil Jones to replace President-elect Barack Obama in the Senate "because he did not believe the three men were electable. He feared losing the seat to a Republican in a future election.""
From the article submited on this thread I read the following.
"Sources believe that at least portions of the phone conversations are on tape…"
Now to me this means I hope they can find some connection and we can get some more viewers. It it not a statement of fact.-

I know, huh? What's the big deal here? Of course the democratic 'leaders' would discuss this. Now if harry were offering a bribe to choose someone, that would be another thing entirely. I think partisan hacks are just reaching, as usual. Big yaaawn to the 'story.' But I'll keep an open mind to whatever the hacks might throw. Who knows, they may just hit on something credible, as my instincts tell me that harry isn't without 'sin.' -

And why are they unelectable? Could it be that the good ole white Senate wants to be kept that way?

I never liked Reid, he always has that I just ate a turd look mixed with I need a laxative look. He makes Cheney look like a cheerful man.

Democrats were the first to ask Blagojevich to step down. And many are openly questioning Democrat Caroline Kennedy's fitness for a seat in Congress.
Reply
Republican Conservatives, on the other hand, have viciously attacked anyone questioning Bush/Cheney's obviously disastrous policies for years. And innapropriately defended Craig, Stevens, Strom ("Segregation Forever!") Thurmond, etc.
Could you explain your hyperbole? You may be slightly confused.

4thchance writes "Could be in about 3 or 4 years, we will be thinking how good things were with Bush!" Right 4thchance, like we'll be missing the flu or an earthquake. Where in the world do you guys get it that it was wrong for ANY Democrat (or Republican) to call Gov. Blogo and make a suggestion? Just because Blogo's a crook and was trying to sell the seat, that doesn't and shouldn't tarnish everyone or anyone who talked to him. Who was to know that a governor would stoop that low? If they didn't mention money, where's the implied guilt? If you ask your grocer to consider stocking boysenberry juice, and the grocer happens to steal boysenberry juice, that doesn't make YOU a crook. Get a brain.

Wow, repubs do not say a word when their side is committing war crimes or will only speak off the record and behind closed doors about 911 and yet a dem talking to another dem is a serious crime? Man, these repubs really have some serious moral issues, absolutely no sense of honour among them.

Why can't they bring this thing to trial and get everything out in the open? If this guy is crooked let's get him out.

I'm a Democrat and am no fan of Pelosi or Reid. I can't understand how they got to be the leaders in congress.
No matter what happens I highly doubt that anyone will be lamenting the rule of Bush. They have totally ruined this country in their time. -
