I accept two addenda to the Golden Rule:

1) Treat people the way THEY would want to be treated (as far as one can ascertain). For example, I wish people I know to be Christian a "Merry Christmas".

2) Treat people BETTER than you would expect to be treated.

  To that i would add..
  don't do that which you hate.
  if you hate cigarettes, don't smoke
  If you hate liars, don't lie... etc.
