Humans are (distantly) descended from a fish that was able to escape some of it's competition and predation by escaping the water. By coming out of the water it got more food and was able to escape all the bigger fish....

    Technically speaking, humans didn't evolve from monkeys. New World monkeys and apes (including man) share a common ancestor.

      I tend to believe we are more closely related to the pig than the monkey. we get the same diseases. We have the same digestive system. Our skin is similar. And for those of you with an odd bent.. We taste roughly the same.
