I think it's worth putting money into, but I would not bank on it to stimulate the economy with these current conditions. It would create small business based out of homes that can not support many employees. If you have 10 people selling stuff on the internet from their homes, what will happen to the stores with ample amounts of employees that support families. What about the people in the construction trade that build the stores or companies that manage commercial properties and malls. The local mall here only has about 40% of it's space rented now, and it's only a small town.

Internet companies wouldnt necessarily knock brick and mortar stores out. There are quite a few companies today that offer both internet and regular store including ordering things via the internet and picking them up at the house, Im not sure where you shop but most brick and mortar stores dont have a lot of sales people on the floor, try and find help on things at times in a lot of stores. Those same people can also be used as online help for customers on the net. There are quite a few companies with an internet presence that allow you to connect online with thier staf for help in a purchase,

The entire problem is that we have trusted our economy to number arrangers and ignored people who make a product and sell it for a profit. Recently the economists admitted against their will because they just couldn't hide it anymore that we are in a recession. The rest of America knew it about a year ago. What we have now is the economists who will tell us a year from now that the finance system they hold above god did in fact meltdown saying give us all the money that you don't have because if you don't we will look really stupid and broke. So we gave them more money than anything and they stole it again and are upset because we won't give them the rest of the loot. The solution is not an economic boner pill. The solution is figuring out how to redesign the economy so those who benefit from our country pay taxes to support the roads, schools, police, and military that makes US a much better place for their company than the middle of Africa. Goddamn ships fly flags from tax shelters that pretend to be nations. If someone messes with them though do you think they call their home port? No they call the US and say "yes we fly this nonsense flag because we don't want to pay American taxes but we demand all the benefits we don't feel like paying for. We need to ignore piracy on any ship that does not fly a real flag meaning US, any EU country, or if China and the Sauds want to play ball and supply warships and chase pirates they can join the club and understand safe trade is good for everyone and if we detect pirates chasing a Chinese cargo ship we hopefully will kill the pirates before some professianal victims can tell us why we just don't understand the pirates. If they want to dodge taxes by flying a made up flag then they can make believe calling the non existant fleet to protect them. If they would prefer an American style response like a few missiles toward anyone giving them problems they can register their ship in America and pay American taxes.
