So glad the boy was not hurt.

Sadly to say when I was in school, I was not quite so determined to get to school.

Independent little bugger....what kind of mother would sleep in while her 6 year old gets himself up and gets himself ready for school? Guess he's used to figuring things out for himself. Probably the only attention he gets is in school.

It's very revealing that the kid wanted to get to school before he missed breakfast and PE. I guess he doesn't get breakfast at home because his mother's still asleep.

am from Virginia, and where this incident occurred. I upon hearing it had many thoughts going through my mind. It has not been mentioned at all that Social Services in the county was already previously involved with this family. This aspect has been kept quiet. I wonder if it ever will be addressed that they knew there were issues with this family and why this even got to this point. I, too am pleased that a child is anxious to go to school but why did it have to get to this point if SS had already been involved and now they are coming in to take the kids into their care but no mention of this family being in SS's "sight" before now.Just putting out thoughts from within the area. I live in this area and wonder why he got so far down the road when our local police station/social services is within a short number of minutes of where he was and why intervention locally took so long. Where he lives police are always called there to the apartments for issues....Just putting thoughts to ponder out.
