a 500 dollar tax break isn't going to save many from foreclosure.

Gee, I thought Bush already gave us a bunch of tax cuts? Oh that's right, lefties would NEVER give Bush credit for anything, not EVER! Then look at how Obama's tax cut is structured. I liked Bush's tax cuts WAY BETTER. My wife and I both received CHECKS for $600 each. Obama's plan sucks in comparison!

So, be sure to attacked me now, call me nasty names and stuff like that, for posting the truth!

You do realize of course that your $600 does not equal the five, six, and even seven figure cuts that the Bushies gave themselves, right??

So you are against equality, fairness, and sound economic policies. Anything else?

well I'm gonna break that trend..

Bush and Cheney.. have lowered the standard that the United States once held in the world.. and dropped it to the level of near third world.. the economy is in shambles.. and may NEVER recover..

Bush is a genius..he was put in office to do exactly what he did.. make sure the wealthy got richer and the middle class shrunk.. and many who claim to be middle class.. seem to applaud and defend this.. it just leaves me speachless......

          normally,
You're right, I can't see it helping anyone, actually. It said 'up to 500', and if it's "delivered" by way of your weekly paycheck, that's 500 divided by 52 weeks, an extra $9.70 a week. Less than 10 bucks. Assuming you have a job!

Seeing as how the US Government gives Israel the equivalent of $500 for each and every single Israeli, don't you think it's time that Americans saw some of their own tax dollars?

I'd rather he used the 300 billion to help create jobs. $10 bucks a week for those with a job, and/or a $500 refund for those that don't work for whatever reason, is not going to do much for the vast majority of us. It would go a long way to fund some infratructure projects.

so are you advocating tax cuts for the unemployed, or are you saying because of the current financial fiasco caused by the current administration there are so many unemployed people who cant survive without tax cuts

I'm saying no tax cuts, for anyone, right now. Later after the job losses are curtailed, and more of us are making some money.

From your response I don't think you've seen many of my comments. I don't defend the republican party, or the democrats. I bash both of them.
Do you honestly think $10 a week will make a difference? $40 a month won't even pay a water bill, much less a mortgage.

Unemployment income is taxable income. I don't remember in what year or what government agency made the decision to include unemployment income in taxable income but government is getting ready to include medical benefits in that category. Company provided life insurance premiums, under certain conditions, are already considered taxable income.

I agree in principle, "tax cuts for the unemployed are an oxymoron" but I don't believe any "benefit" received from government entities paid for by taxable income should be taxed again..

I still say Obama should buy us all a new Ford, GM, or Chrysler. Maybe one of each. Least we'd know where the money went. Nice for us tax payers to have reliable transportation to get to work. Think about all the vehicles we supply for the government.

Dire consequences! More threats to get their hands on even more money under the guise again of ‘helping the nation’.

If this NWO puppet really wanted to help the nation he would tell the TRUTH! Period! Regardless of what consequences that revelation would bring him personally. Taking into consideration the overwhelming fascination with Obama held by a large majority of hope-filled-sheople in this country and around the world, he truly could ‘change’ the very course of history, if he had the testicular fortitude to tell the TRUTH (not likely). After all Christ (and I’m not espousing religion, only wisdom in my observation) said ‘TRUTH’ shall set us free. Not HOPE. Not RELIGION. Not PRAYERS. Not GUNS. VIOLENCE. HATE, LOVE or even GOD, but TRUTH. Of all the words Christ could have used, he chose this one. Think about it. Is this the reason most people reject truth (besides the mind-conditioning)?

I find there are two types of people in this world: The Hopeful and Truth seekers. There is a world of difference between the two. Hopeful people are not necessarily open to the truth. In fact, if they hear a truth that threatens their hope, they either reject or deny the truth.

However, truth-seekers have no reason to defend their positions, because truth speaks for itself. You either accept it or reject it and then work it.

That is why politicians (99.9%) speak to our hopes. They avoid truth because they do not intend to ‘free’ us. It is why Obama is the epitome of hope and therefore the harbinger of furthering the coming slavery. IF WE ALLOW IT.

The hell with hope. Give me TRUTH and hope will be a living entity in every activity of our lives, instead of the ever fleeting smoke spoken out of the mouths of liars.

A 500.00 tax cut over a year amounts to $41.67 a month. $1000.00 would be $83.33 a month. Now I'm by no means a great finanical thinker, but I honestly don't see how this is going to save someone from losing their home.

                          you're exactly right, Jord.

this does nothing except run up debt.

call Obama's plan $1T, just to round to a simple number.

until the $40-60T Wall Street overhang is fixed and the paper is straightened out, the banks will remain in a straitjacket.

as amazing as this may sound, $1T is a drop in the bucket.

we need a 21st century RTC. like yesterday.

OK, so I'm cynical. But I don't own a house cause I couldn't afford one, so I'm not really interested in paying for people to stay in their "too large" houses. Forclose and give me a good price (only slightly facecious).

While the $500 check was nice, we had to 1) Send our money to the gvt; 2) Pay people to shuffle a bunch of papers; 3) get our own money back... Obviously inefficient, but certainly gets more press for the tax-rebater, I guess. At least Mr. O is saying he wants to cut out the sticky fingers of the gvt.

One problem. While you get your 'good price' at the below market cost of a repossession, that drags down the value of the homes that people have paid into for years, doing it the right way. Hardly fair. I'd rather see THEIR investments saved, than you getting a great deal. (only slightly facecious).

I can understand that wanting to protect the others... I can even understand the desire to protect the economy, etc. At the same time I can't tell you how sick I am of our nation punishing those who are prudent or successful. The real lesson from this is that I should have bought a too large house and waited for other Americans to buy it for me. It is sickening. I agree there is no good solution. But any solution should contain ensure that the money is returned. I have lost out of the benefits of home ownership (better credit, lower interest rates on loans and credit cards, tax write offs, etc). Now I have to pay additional money for people who got these benefits all along???

Everyone has to pay for the bailout. The reason is, it's in our best interest in the long run. (I'm not speaking of the banking bailout. ) You're right that people didn't pay attention. But I don't put the 'blame' on them. They were ignorant, literally. They didn't have the education to know what they were getting into. The people with THAT knowledge were the lenders, and it was their responsibility to explain it. They didn't. And because they didn't, that makes them predatory. They literally preyed on people's lack of knowledge, and became very wealthy doing it. My anger lies with them, and a government that turned a blind eye to what was going on. We used to have regulations that carried consequences for predatory lending. The republicans don't like regulations. This is where that thinking brought us.

And this is a reasonable philosophical difference. I certainly blame any lender who did not explain things. But I have bought a house in the past. There is a specific form that is required that explains the terms of the loan, the interest rate, fixed or variable, how it will vary, the monthly payment, etc. To say that someone did not understand this form means they are incapable of functioning in society and need a full time nanny. Sorry.

The government can not protect every person from every stupid decision they make. Just look at the decisions they typically make and then how you translate into thinking that they are capable of making decisions for everyone in the nation is simply beyond me...

My feeling is that most cases were people buying "at the top of their range' or slightly above it hoping to keep getting pay increases or have the value of their home go up or something else to figure out in the future how to deal with the debt. They were essentially gambling and lost.

In the meantime, society and the government has given them financial perks that I have missed out on. Now I am being asked to pay them even more. I understand it is probably in my best interest to do so but it is equally as valid for me to be ****** off, at the lenders and borrowers, and expect to get my money back. Those who get this mortgage bailout should have to pay back every penny, just as we have expected the auto companies to .

Don't be sorry. You're entitled to your opinion. I'm entitled to mine. And the reason government is talking about helping them directly, is because it's for the best interest of the common good. Let them fail, we all pay one way or another. They're suggesting something that doesn't go down well, but is ultimately for the common good. No one ever said life was fair.

I agree. Many people made a fortune by flipping houses and now others are stuck. I don't own a house and don't want to pay for someone to live in something they knew they couldn't afford.
Home prices are starting to fall in line with where they should be. A level that working people can afford. It's not my responsibility to care for someone who bought something they could not afford. Nobody ever offered me a bailout or a handout.

Bush has kept our country SAFE since 9/11 and he is to be commended for it ---- He is not responsible for all that has happened in the world during his 8 yrs. in office. Too bad the anti-americans who voted for Barack Obama didn't first demand he produce his birth certificate which seems to be unavailable. What is the Supreme Court afraid of in demanding to see this certificate? Still about two weeks to inauguration - somebody with some authority better speak up.
Hos Mother was from Kansas - but was she out of the country too long before his birth to retain her citizenship?

Moron... There is no time limit on citizenship. If you are an American citizen you can stay out of the country as long as you want.
And the state of Hawaii hav verified his birth certificate. It's also posted on line for other Hawaians to see.
Where do you hear this nonsense? Even FOX news has stopped with these claims.

Taxes aren't the problem. Spending is the problem. Bush spent like a maniac but didn't raise taxes, that's whey we are in debt. He's like a kid with Daddy's credit card.
Obama's tax cuts wont help either. We are in debt and someone has to pay the debt. A tax break for some means increased taxes for others.
Bush's stupidity got us in this mess and more stupidity wont get us out.

Yeehaw. A program of tax cuts combined with "bailouts," aka handouts, to major corporations.

What a stark contrast with the republican agenda.

I wonder why no one is complaining about all of the money handed over to the banks/Wall Street? The Senate?Congress gave up that money with no strings attached. In fact, to this day, we do not know exactly who got that money. We're told, we will not be told anything. And the often defying Media, tucked their tails, and looked the other way. I wish we had fearless and bold reporters/journalist, who would follow that money -7000 billion-plus, and expose the evil connection. We do know that it did not stop the foreclosures, or kept businesses from laying off. Yet, opposers scrutinize and vilify those who ask for money that will directly help the masses/"mainstreet." Was it Hamilton or Lincoln who warned the U.S., about the banking system and corporations? He said that the day would come when they would take our homes, and our children would wake up homeless. Apparently, he spoke of a time when Americans would be like zombies - drugged, mentally asleep. Even back then, rich, globalistic, totalistic thinking men were plotting and had begun the take-over of the banks, while the un-protesting masses slept. The wake up comes, no doubt, in our day, when we find our homes taken away and hundreds of thousands living on the streets. If you can call what we are "awake." Who can protest when we are mentally dead? Comatose, on every unimaginable drug possible - crack, cocaine, marijuana, PSP, heroin, ecstasy...etc., etc. We are further desensitized by all manner of perversions. Yes, we are in many ways defeated. Yet, the forces working against us are in their conquering mode. And they go forth taking our money, homes, and getting rid of the middle class, creating something... maybe, a little above a slave class.

Another very exciting day on Propeller.com!

I can't wait to get in line for the Democrat Party handouts. Let's take money from the wealthy and give it to people who don't work.

Unfortunately, no poor person ever created a job.

Obama's promise: many more years of trillion dollar deficits and increased federal spending.

                                            Oh yes, he's very smart...
