We need to have more legislators on our side and fight back at the conservatives who deny the abilities of gays and lesbians to be members of families of our own. Numerous studies have shown repeatedly that gays and lesbians are just as good at parenting as their heterosexual counterparts. Denying gays and lesbians the ability to adopt is nothing more than discrimination.

There is absolutely no sane reason on the face of this earth why Gay men and Lesbians cannot be as good and loving parents as their heterosexual counterparts. In fact, in some cases, they may and prove to be much better parents because they recognize the struggles they have endured as a child themselves because they were different, and could be more accepting and supportive of a foster or adopted child who may also have issues with their sexual identity. Too, I believe Gay men and Lesbians on the whole are a lot better educated, have chosen careers in fields that pay higher wages therefore providing a better quality of life for the adopted or forster child.

The fact remains that children are better off in the care of loving parents than institutionalized. No child should be forced to live in an orphanage just because of anti-gay adoption laws.

I find it ironic that many of the same people who want to outlaw abortions want to prevent these same 'saved' babies from entering into a loving home if the parents happen to be of the same gender.

Well I will have to get very active and kill this insanity. That is what it is.

A baby needs a father and a mother to be raised with the best chances in life. They need both role models.

Denying gays the right to adopt represents primitive ignorance/moral obtuseness of the most egregious sort.

Arguments that a dual-gender union is best for children are uselessly hypothetical: what all kids need is love and protection, whatever their source.

The issue of "role models" presupposes that male and female parents each represent a gender exemplar--and thus hold the key to successful gender or life adaptation for their offspring.

But the world is less than perfect and bad or even mediocre parents of both sexes abound. What counts is that parents parent, whatever their gender.

I agree if two people care about each other and they live as a couple they should be allowed to adopt Kids. I don't see what the big deal is give a child a home.

The big deal, Newpeson, is, unfortunately, that some people are mired in superstitious belief and/or dangerous ignorance that prompt a narrow, draconian worldview.

This bigoted, totalitarian position insists that people love in one way only--and would have children go parentless rather than allowing them loving homes if the parents in question aren't male and female.

            Heartbreaking and dangerously antisocial.

If we stop gays from adopting.. I also believe that people should not be able to adopt from different races.. after all how can one relate to the "experience"......

If we are going to go back to the 17th century... let's go all the way...

Florida is so backward.. at least down to the I-4 corridor.. and along the west coast...

actually i think 2 judges have ruled the law to be unconstitutional.. not precident setting.. but one is under appeal.. and if it holds up.... that will render the law null and void..

Sad to see that at a time when the economy is going downhill, we are wasting so many resources creating and then fighting these ridiculously discriminatory laws.

The government has no constitutional right to prevent homosexuals from being able to join together in secular civil unions or adopt children because of anti-gay religious sentiment.

The sooner society accepts that, the better off we'll be...maybe then, the people who are so rabid about getting discrimination measures on ballots can focus their time and energies on productive changes, such as ensuring that all children have access to proper health care.

Maybe it is because Florida did their research:

In “The Gay Report,” prepared by two gay researchers, 73 percent of homosexuals surveyed reported having had sex with boys, aged 16 to 19, and in some cases younger.

                · According to a study by the John Jay College of Criminal Justice, 81 percent of priestly sex-abuse victims were boys and adolescent males. In coverage of the scandal, the media resolutely ignored this reality by referring to the perps as “pedophile priests,” instead of homosexual pedophile priests.

                · Male homosexuals represent roughly 2.5 percent of the population, yet account for over one-third of adults who prey sexually on children. In other words, a gay male is 13 times as likely to be a sexual predator as a heterosexual male.

As a father, I kiss and hug my little boy as much as I do my little girl. My father, who took care of us kids by himself, gave us all the love we needed. One man, one woman, two men, two women, it doesn't really matter. All you need is love.

We need to think of what is right for the morals of children.
Gay people should never be allowed to adopt.
They are sexual perverts that do immoral things to one another.
To put children in a home that has those perversions going on is wrong.
If you want to get slammed in the rear then at least keep the kids away from your sexual deviate perversions.

This argument is not about children, it's not even about marriage, it's about legitimizing homosexuality.

There will always be a faction of American culture that has a religious bent against same-sex couples, and it has nothing at all to do with Jesus.

For all the Christian posturing about universal love, they simply can't get past their personal repugnance of the physical act. Period. The use scripture as a means to hate.

In my mind, there is nothing more anti-Jesus than hate.
