A state legislative committee unanimously voted today to recommend the Illinois House impeach Gov. Rod Blagojevich based on allegations that he abused his powers and sold his office to enrich himself.
Minutes after the vote, House Speaker Michael Madigan (D-Chicago) predicted the full House would impeach Blagojevich as soon as Friday, the first such action in state history.

A Blagojevich spokesman said the governor would not heed some lawmakers' calls to resign before the full House votes.

The vote by the special House Investigative Committee was 21-0. A vote by the full House to send articles of impeachment to the Illinois Senate is expected on Friday.

Blago's best defense would be to say "just because I said it doesn't mean I would do it."

This is probably his only chance. I think he should be impeached, because he lacks ethics. I think Sarah Palin did the same if not worse by trying to have her Ex-brother in law fired. She should be impeached.

Has this man been convicted of any crime yet? How can you agree to impeachment preceedings when he is innocent until proven guilty. Once proven guilty then impeach the sob, or with luck he might resign prior to.

I saw him on a news conference after the impeachment results were out. He completely ignored the accusations against him and basically said this was a lynching by the Illinois legislature because they didn't like his progressive views on health care. He had a dozen or more people there that he referred to and the camera zoomed in on while he told their specific medical problem he had helped remedy or at least fought the legislature over. It was bizarre.

I watched it with an 87 year old patient, we both think he has funny looking ears and that he is truly not in touch with reality. He is a loose cannon and I would not be surprised with anything he does.
