I have no RAM, but I know it, and I compensate by redundant lists and reminders. (GTD!) I dread letting down a customer or forgetting a commitment.

FTA - "For professionals memory is very important and it is an asset, especially doctors, lawyers, teachers and such other person."

Now, how do I complete this brain surgery procedure? Yes, memory is a good thing.

My wife can set down an object and look for it 5 seconds later and not know where she put it. But, when it comes to her job or schooling, she has a great memory. That is because she is tenacious an focused on things that are important to her.

I've always been detailed as I worked as a Surveyor for many years and had to remember everything that happened on projects for years after they were completed. I also did most of the field notes which helps one remember.

Those who have poor memory should be asking themselves if they get enough sleep. Sleep disorders can explain alot of folks who have poor memory, mood swings, prone to the blues, poor work/school performance... I can keep on going.

Most americans get an average of 6.5 hours of sleep. Whats needed for the average american is 8 hours. Children needing far more and those in their senior years less.

This past summer the American Heart Association acknowledges a direct causal link between sleep disorder and heart diseases.

So not only does it behoove you to ask yourself and your loveones if you are a restless sleeper, snore or have instances where breathing stops.

And if you think you are fine, ask yourself do you ever get a "full" night but felt like you just went to bed, dead dog tired? Cant remeber stuff right?

          There is hope.

Look at sleep disorders. The likely candidate is apnea for alot of folks.

Mark Twain apprenticed as a Mississippi river-boat pilot, and was astonished to find a pilot was expected to memorize the entire river; every turn, every bank, every sunken, invisible danger.

Then he found ship's pilot were expected to recognize any part of the river instantly.

Then he found the river was totaly diferent, going upstream than from going down. He had to memorize 2 mississipis.

Then he found he was expected to know it by night with a diferent set of landmarks and dangers than the day time.
            That added another 2 mississippis.

            Interestingly, he did it.
            That surprised him too.

A powerful memory can be an incredible asset in life. I'm so happy that I've been training my memory. I took Chester Santos' (USA National Memory Champion) course and can now remember the names of everyone that I meet and also things about them. It's really great for creating better social and business relationships. Also, I can now give presentations very effectively from memory and am also using the techniques to help with my hobby of studying new languages. It's incredible what I'm able to do now that I wasn't before. If you are interested in improving your memory, I recommend that you check this out:
