The term "truce" means different things to different belligerents. To Hamas it means, "regroup and rearm while your opponent rests." As such, a truce is merely another arrow in the Hamas quiver.

In low-intensity urban conflict, maintaining momentum until the objective is achieved is critical to bringing the conflict to an appropriate, peaceful conclusion. It's in the best interest of Gaza's civilian population that this conflict end as soon as possible, and as permanently as possible. That can only mean endless pursuit of Hamas, destruction of supply lines, and inserting a political alternative to terrorist hegemony. -

Let see, I fire thousands of rockets aimed at your civilian population over several years, I hide my army amongst my civilian population, and then when you attack me to stop the rockets I accuse you of "war crimes" because you must go through innocents to fire on my fearless warriors! RIGHT!
Hopefully Israel can wipe out these lunatics so there's a real chance for peace in the future...-

Unfortunately for Israel and the entire world this "logic" is still extremely effective. "Still" because the civilized world did not find a good enough way to fight terrorism. The world is prepared to fight armed soldiers but our Judeo-Christian moral values prevent us from harming unarmed civilians, in particular civilian women and children. The terrorists use our values against us when they deliberately attack our civilians using their own women and children as shields at the same time.
