"Well, I think it's the least they can do. And I do mean the absolute least"

The US gives the equivalent of $500 to each and every Israeli citizen, each and every year. In addition it supplies Israel with the bombs and weaponry it's using to kill Palestinian children, including the ones they rounded up into a house and then intentionally bombed.
In addition the US supplies them with the cluster bombs they use in Lebanon and the Gaza against international law and treaties.
In addition, the US tends to veto anything in the UN that criticizes Israel's aggression, probably because the US knows it would be hypocritical to support it having engineered its own invasion of a soverign nation based on lies.
Seems like the US is doing plenty to empower Israel's aggression. -

Your figures are extremely misleading. A good portion of what you have quoted are not outright grants or gifts. Israel puts out 50% of its GNP for military expenditures which include repayment of loans to the US government. I will be able to give you an exact total if you like from the GAO, but I doubt that it would make a difference since you wouldn't believe it anyway, but keep up your Googling. Don't forget to read all of the information and not just that which serves your purpose. BTW, now look up the aid that the US gives to Egypt and to the Palestinians who, like Yassir Arafat, embezzled the funds. The Palestinians receive more aid from the US and the European countries than any other single group. Most of it is never used for the people. Now that much of Gaza is in ruins, lets see how well Hamas does in rebuilding it. It certainly had a great deal to do with it's destruction.

The US is out of step with the United Nations and virtually the whole of the rest of the world. But its coming round and and the deliberate murder of children does nothing whatsoever to help the Israeli cause any more than do stories like this one from "Israeli girl" whose presence on propeller is solely as a paid shill.

I was listening to the radio today and the host asked a caller, "What is more useful than the UN?"
The caller replied, "A can opener."
I was disappointed because all I that I could think of was toilet paper or a maxi pad. God bless the UN...or something, hahahaha! How much did they spend on that sweet paint job on the ceiling again? Those people are up to nothing but good. -

A well-considered "out of step with the United Nations and virtually the whole of the rest of the world", I would add.

As for your wild canard re: "the deliberate murder of children", you need to begin thinking outside your United Nations echo chamber, Gama. I am stunned to hear such things from you. -

The Israelis have the US by the short and curlies. I've no idea exactly how or why but it involves a guilt trip of some kind.

They try the same thing on almost everyone but the US is the only country that buys in and raises, automatically, on every pot, without even a glance at the hand they've been dealt.
Right now they're refusing to respond to the intolerable and as a follow-up to the Iraq debacle it weakens the standing of the US in realms of world respect.
This is a VERY bad time for that to be happening and I suspect that even some of the most hardcore Bushites are only protesting as loudly as they do because they KNOW how f***ed up it is.
Call that my optimistic view of human nature, if you like. If they REALLY believe it then there's a place called Guantanamo Bay looking for a new clientele and they seemed to love that too, So...

Gama - Er, correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm fairly sure you used the word genocide, in refering to the casualties suffered by the Palestinians at Israeli hands ??? Maybe you'd care to check the definition of the word genocide...... Had you done so, previous to your posting, you'd not have used said word (inflamatory & eye-catching as it may be). Had Israel wished to commit genocide on the Palestinian people, there'd be precious few of them left, given the population density & Israel's armaments.....

The fact that (unlike Hamas) Israel takes great pains to selectively target it's strikes, is (of course) ignored by those who simply seek to denigrate & denounce said country.....
For those (on other similar threads) who have likened the Palestinian cause to that between the UK & the IRA, please check a few facts before exposing your complete ignorance on the subject. The IRA did NOT rain down 3-5000 rockets/missiles/mortar bombs on UK territory, but used planted (not suicidal, they'd more sense) bombs for the majority of their dirty deeds.-

I didn't use the word on this thread.

If I used it somewhere else regarding this situation I may have been guilty of hyperbole.
I will, however, without any qualifying disclaimers accuse the Israelis of a crome against humanity in regard to the current attack on Gaza,
The Hamas rockets may have been extremely provocative - and lethal to a few people, which I do not for one moment condone.
But as far as the "punishment fitting the crime" the Israelis have lost hands-down on the scale of morality, justice, fairness which are so widely touted as what defines the boundary between civilisation and chaos.

Do the Jews of Israel want to exterminate the Palestinians just to be mean? Do the Palestinians want to do the same to the Jews? Is Hamas capable of killing its own for a public relations victory? Are Hamas aims the same as those of the Palestinians? Whose side is the UN on? Are the Europeans being held hostage by violent intercity minorities? Who gains if Israel ceases to exist and what is gained? Who paid for the rockets that are stockpiled in, and are being fired from Gaza--Certainly not the Palestinians who live there, not monetarily anyway? What are the implications for the non-Islamic west when Israel falls and the pogrom begins?

Part of the problem for me, is that there are a very few, very loud voices that oppose Israel, who are anti-semitic. They make me want to put on a yarmulka.

Whenever there is a coherent discussion of the strategic value to US security of the aliance and support of the State of Israel,
- they jump in with their bilderberg soros jewish tribes mafia-runs-the-us rants,
and all chance of coherent discussion vanishes.
Which could imply that Hyperbola works for Mosad.
Great; now I am doing it. -

He often uses moderate Israelis as sources.
On the other hand, some here are so entrenched in knee-jerk Israel-is-good-cause-Arabs-are-bad that they bring little to the table but vitriole.

Which nation, which religion, which people is more viruous (or less vicerous) than Israel? The Germans? The Russians? Those nice Turks? I know-- the Finns. Wait, didn't they gang up with the Nazis for a while? The Japanese...Oh, Nanking. The Chinese then. Look what they've done for Tibet. The Swiss-- maybe if it wasn't for their record of helping criminals hide resources. The truth is that world politics is a rough game. People who rave about all the Palestinian casualties, as if that were the only issue, are simply showing which side they are on.
