FTA: "U.S. scientists have found a way to levitate the very smallest objects using the strange forces of quantum mechanics, and said they might use it to help make tiny nanotechnology machines.
They said they had detected and measured a force that comes into play at the molecular level using certain combination's of molecules that repel one another.""

Any ideas on what the force is that they measured???

I dunno if this is the answer or not but it has some parallel to what you describe.

        http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aether_theories

"it is considered to be a physical medium occupying every point in Space, including within material bodies. A second essential feature is that its properties gives rise to the electric, magnetic and gravitational potentials and determines the propagation velocity of their effects. Therefore the speed of light and all other propagating effects are determined by the physical properties of the Æther at the relevant location, analogous to the way that gaseous, liquid and solid media affect the propagation of sound waves."

The theory was considered debunked for a long time but has recently seen a resurgence as new experiments are producing unusual observations.

Here is a much better source of information for those who are interested in the idea.

I hadn't seen this site before Alakazam, I bookmarked it. It will take a while to explore from the looks of it.

It is a very interesting subject to me. It is one that can give you that brain swell feeling when you start delving into it!

I remember how remarkable it was back in the late 70s when they first started trying to corral neutrinos. It was thought to be the same stuff that thoughts were made of. Unseen but you could tell they were there by the reaction of where they had been, passed through, kind of the first glimpse through the symbolic veil. Many still consider it more of a scientific philosophy than a concrete science. I really enjoy watching the scientific community delve into that inner space beyond the atom. Absolutely fascinating, as above, so below except often the opposite laws are true.

It is amazing to me that we humans are starting to unlock so many mysteries.

Sounds almost like science fiction until you read the article.

There was a time not to long ago where stuff like this WAS science fiction.

I remember when I watched Star Trek and the small wireless hand communicators, I thought maybe when I'm really old we may see some thing like that.......LOL
