Just elimination of the 'State' of Israel not the people of Israel.

If so what would take its place? A 'Muslim State' which could be theocratic also? An UN Protectorate like Serbia and Bosnia?
I think this is what Israel is not going to let happen without one hell of a fight.-

Maybe that's not the best analogy because we are not a theocracy either but there are people and forces in this country who strive to create a theocracy here. They have already been working toward the removal of rights from those that they disagree with. The passions and tensions are high and also the possibilities for violence. This has only really surfaced fairly recently. Imagine if it had been going on for generations as it has in Israel.

I agree with you in that there are powerful religious individuals that would love to turn the US Govt into a Theocracy. And yes, they do try to remove or suppress the rights of groups and people that disagree with them. ( It is really erie talking to them; they always try to convince you right from the 'get go' that they have a personal mandate from God to 'demand this and demand that from the Govt' because this is what God wants from a Christian Nation and they are the 'chosen messengers' of Gods personal demands.)

This is something that could be called a dangerous duality for our politicians in that they want and seek the support of the so called religious right, yet at the same time they do not want to appear to be overly supportive of the religious rights agendas' because of the real need to keep the Church out of the affairs of the US Govt.

"Hamas omitted its call for the destruction of Israel from its election manifesto, calling instead for "the establishment of an independent state whose capital is Jerusalem.""
