Growing Up Star Wars »
Posted By Wil 10 months, 3 weeks ago in Arts & EntertainmentI spent way too much time in the Growing Up Star Wars group at Flickr yesterday. It is just filled with photos, drawings, and other artifacts of my generation's youth. I couldn't stop watching the slideshow because each new picture showed a kid with a toy that I wanted so much, a kid wearing a costume that I had, or something else that was so familiar, it was like looking into my own memory.
Unless you have an hour or more, I wouldn't recommend viewing the group's slideshow, but here are a few highlights

I remember watching the first Star Wars on a trip to NYC. I'd always been facinated by scifi and fantasy and when watching flics I was almost always disappointed by the special effects. But Star Wars exploded with special effects that blew my mind!

I really don't know why but I was a huge fan of Star Wars, still my favorite movies of all time, I never had all the toys, not sure if I wasn't interested or if I just never got them. It could of been that I was on the edge of growing out of action hero's, I do believe I had the soundtrack though.

What a great series the original 3 were, "Darth Vader is Luke's father!!!" just blew me away, and The Return of the Jedi Sail Barge fight with a blind Han Solo was awesome

Star Wars changed things. It was the first movie I saw that didn't have a movie playing with it, and, it cost 75 cents to see in the NIGHT time. Before, you could see two movies for 50 cents. It was like, "WHAT!?! It's just ONE movie AND it's 75 cents!?!? This better be good!" I wasn't disappointed.
