My website, http://www.ownahomefor100.com is straight up, not a scam or a way to avoid paying taxes. The writer from Raffle Secrets has 3 concerns that I'll address here. #1-Regulation: Most of the real estate business is unregulated, hence the unscruptulous mortgage brokers being able to sell millions of unsuspecting homeowners into subprime mortgages, charging them exhorbitant fees for meager services then disappearing with the money to appear as yet ANOTHER mortgage company a month later! I don't want anyone from the industry that drove this country into the depths of despair 'regulating' anything that I'm involved with. This is honest & I intend to keep it that way. Not to imply that all realtors, mortgage brokers are bad, but there was a large number involved here. The money is kept in a separate account, untouched, until the minimum is met & the event is concluded. It doesn't pay me to do anything other than finish the event as described & if I find that I cannot complete the event, as noted, I'm returning the gifts. A local title company will do the deed transfer, which I will pay for along with a 1 year home warranty, all property taxes & HOA fees due prior to the transfer. #2-Judging Bias: Bias in the essay judging is not possible. The judges do not know me & I do not know them. They will judge essays based on the criteria listed on the website & choose the winner accordingly, no bias. In addition it's clearly stated on the website that I will not sell the house to a friend, relative or acquaintance. I did that to avoid the issue/idea of bias &/or a pre-arranged winner. #3-Taxes: I'm not trying to cheat the government out of their rightful tax. When you buy a home you're not required to pay income tax on it's value, so the State isn't losing anything. The $1 sale price is based on relative worth. My home is no longer worth what it was. I can't sell it or borrow on it & it costs me money every day that I don't relocate, so it's value has diminished to $1, actually less, but I left it $1 for practical purposes. If anyone challenges that, let them produce the money I need to prove their point. Many homeowners have e-mailed me at jacquie@ownahomefor100.com asking for my help, so I know this could help many others. Hi, My name is Mandi Jo. I live in Johnson City TN. I am writing this to get information out there about a raffle we are having on behalf of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Johnson City/Washington County TN. I am wanting the public to know why we are doing this raffle. A local group of people got together and decided there had to be a better way to get our community out of the economical crisis. We looked around and seen that what was impacting our community the most was the slump i the housing market and the soaring prices in gas. We decided that we would try and find a local owner who had their home on the market and see if they would let us try and raffle it off and give ALL the proceeds to a local non profit organization that impact our community in a positive way. We Found an owner who was willing to take his home off the market for 12 months and continue to make payments on it and pay and taxes that were due during this period. Then we decided to let the owner choice which organization and they accepted our offer. The reason for the story is so that other communities can start building up within their communities and we do not have to wait on stimulus packages to come in the mail. Mor do we have to wait on cash for clunkers to run out of money. We have ideas, ways and means of getting ourselves back on top. One community, one region, one state, ONE UNITED STATES.
