Comments for Rick Warren: Christians Should Emulate Nazis »

Posted By Neophile 11 months, 1 week ago in Religion

Towards the close of his nearly one hour speech, Pastor Warren asked his followers to be as committed to Jesus as the young Nazi men and women who spelled out in mass formation with their bodies the words "Hitler, we are yours," in 1939 at the Munich Stadium, were committed to the Führer of the Third Reich, a major instigator of a World War that claimed 55 million lives.

He is nothing better than the American Osama Bin Laden! Fanaticism and radicalism are just ok with him! Great, just what we need.

Religious fanatacism is dangerous and does not belong anywhere near our government and its policies. Reagan let 'em in.

I am really disappointed that Obama validated Rick Warren by inviting him to give the invoication at the inauguration!

I am hoping and praying Obama is going to see that this man is no better and just as bad as Wright......

Sorry but I just don't see Warren as any kind of great danger to America. Certainly not on the scale of a Sarah Palin. He is not John Hagee, Jerry Falwell, or even Swaggart. And certainly no Benny Hinn. A reminder that I am agnostic and my current position is that all religion is bunk. But I far prefer the generally positive message of Warren, Osteen, and Joyce Meyer over the "Fire and Brimstone" of the likes of Hagee. Most Americans are Christians so we must deal with them. This article portrays Warren as a complete wacko. But I see nothing wrong with having a purpose driven life. I just don't need the dogma that goes with Warren's beliefs. But he is certainly entitled to those beliefs. I have no problem with Obama's choice.

As much as I detest the Far Right, the Far Left is not much better. Just as shrill and unreasonable. They both need to take a good long look at the mirror.

I am looking at the mirror now.
It has a wooden frame of polished oak. The glass is green, speckled with gold like many old mirrors.

            Within the frame: beauty .

But I also admire Vor's objective and reasonable interpretation of someone he does not agree with. And I will agree with Vor; Warren is no dangerous fanatic.

Sorry vor, but I beg to differ.

For one thing, the "left" rarely asks people to emulate mass murderers.

For another, anyone who has power over groups Americans (like, say, a Pastor and his flock) should not in any way be encouraging them to act like F*CKING NAZIS!

Aren't the results of last eight years of America laboring under the facist model enough?

There are loose bolts in every group. But this isn't Christian Identity or snake handling. I don't see Paul Hill's and Eric Rudolph's springing from these groups.

Although do not mistake me for a fan of Warren. But if religion is pure delusion these guys are the Bud salesmen. Benny Hinn, Paula White, Swaggart, Hagee, Parsley, they sell the hard stuff.

As a rationalist I can't neglect that Christians exist in massive numbers. Misguided numbers IMO but a significant majority of Americans. Thank the FSM for men like Jefferson and Franklin, they created the real America because without them we would be the same monster those crazy fundamentalist Pilgrims ran away from long ago. They truly had foresight. We must not lose our hindsight.

He's not dangerous IF the majority of people see him for what he is, a whack job, and I believe they do. He could be a danger still as to inspiring other fanatics, as willottica says, but not America as a whole.

                    Nochance-

You don't know your Donald Duck very well.

Didn't you see the cautionary Donald Duck driving safety cartoon they used to show on Wonderful World of Disney in which Donald Duck is a DANGER to his fellow drivers because of his recklessness and extreme road rage?

                    FIND IT and WATCH IT.

People like Sarah Palin, who get blessed against witchcraft, knowingly, from a preacher who has chased women in Africa from villages for their being 'witches' is a horrific danger in a position of power.

A person who knowingly attends multiple sermons where the person claims that Jews are themselves to blame for the terrorism for their not accepting Christ, as Sarah Palin did, in a position of power is a danger to our country.

She is a danger because of her ignorance. She is a danger because of her anti-intellectual stance and lack of education. She is a danger because of her intollerance. She is a danger because she embraces the divisive idea of claiming someone is "the other" so that they can be attacked.

I admit that I know very little about this guy beyond this article, but based on this, I would say he is insane.

                    He says at one point:
"The world is full of little Saddams," he observed, "they're in every country, they're in every church, they're in every business, they're in every homeowner's association. They're everywhere. You give a guy a little power and it goes to his head. "

Yes, and he is one of them. He wants power so he can dictate to the rest of us how to live.

                      HEY Dionys

A person who knowingly attends multiple sermons such as REVEREND WRIGHTS SERMONS of (HATRED TOWARDS AMERICA) that Obama OUR PRESIDENT attended for twenty long years. Is that the kind of dangers you are talking about? Oh wait, never mind. It's OK for Obama to be involved with that crap, but not a Republican, I see.

Rev. Wright didn't preach any hatred of America. He preached Black Liberation theology which has its roots in the Catholic Church of South America. Only a jackass who heard merely the 10 second snippet from his Sermon would claim that he was preaching hatred against America, and I don't converse with jackasses who take things out of context to suit their agenda.

                        "YOU FOOL IDIOT HYPOCRITE!"

I don't claim to have knowledge when all I hear is a snippet of a sermon shoved up my butt by Fox news -- That is foolish and idiotic.

Call them out or you can't call out Reverend Wright. He said in a single sermon "God d@mn America" a single sermon. HOW many of YOUR preachers have done the same thing? I don't think you want me to answer that because you can't accept the overwhelming number. I've already called out no less than 3 on your side, so put up or shut up you Runner-up Medal loser

Wright said "Goddamn America" in response to the way African Americans were treated for most of his life.

Warren is essentially saying Goddamn Democracy and Goddamn the entire WORLD by encouraging ANYTHING Nazi/Hitlerian.

Icky Ricky wants people to subordinate their own hearts, minds and consciences to the WORD of their SUPREME LEADER, that is just as screwed up and as dangerous whether the SUPREME LEADER is Hitler or Ricky Warren. Once people abandon their selfhood to that degree they are capable of collectively committing unthinkable horrors.

Pure atheistic hatred of what they do not understand. Such ignorance talking. Look at some of those who did that. Stalin, Mao, Hitler, Pho Pot, etc. WW2 had a total of over 400 million dead. The first three had a lot to do with how big that number is. So who committed the unthinkable horrors.

You seem to forget that the 10 commandments and the sermon on the mount are the things that Christians are to observe. This is set on us by God. What equivalent rules do ALL atheists have that they observe?

Yet you seem to forget that this is the same Bible in which people were killed solely for existing. The Bible is filled with nonsensical decisions which make God seem more or less random in His omnipotent decision making.

I have had personal contact or dealings with more than a hundred Fundamentalist Christians in the last 3 decades in Colorado.

The devotion the nazis held for Hilter was a dangerous form of nationalism that spilled out of their borders creating war and destruction. It was a poor analogy to use and a man of God should think twice before invoking this type of comparison.

It is very simple. Jesus was wrong about non-violence. If he was right about it, Christians would follow him in non-violent practive.

Jesus did not give us a choice of either/or. So either He is wrong or Christians are.
