Comments for The Shameful Silence of the U.S. Media »
Posted By tehranchik 11 months, 3 weeks ago in Political NewsFor a start, there are certainly some American voices which vehemently disagree with these biased views and the inferior reporting. Prominent among these, for example, is National Public Radio's Democracy Now program, hosted by the straight talker Amy Goodman (and Juan Gonzales) which is aired by 750 radio and television stations throughout the United States.
Several American Jewish groups like Israel Policy Forum and Americans for Peace Now are also often critical of Israeli policies.
Justifying the Israeli invasion, the pro-Israel New York Mayor, Michael Bloomberg, told Jon Stewart, the popular Jewish comedian, on the Comedy Central show that "If you're in your apartment and some emotionally disturbed person is banging on your door, screaming, 'I'm going to come through this door and kill you!' do you want us to respond with one police officer, which is proportional, or with all the resources at our command?"
Stewart replied, mockingly, "I guess it depends if I forced that guy to live in my hallway… and make him go through checkpoints every time he has to take a sh*t!"
The comedian's fans have now created a website to thank him for his unexpected stance criticizing the continued Israeli blockade of the Gaza Strip. (http://www.thankyoujonstewart.com),

Gaza Slaughter Exposes Truth About Zionism
Collective punishment is a violation of the Fourth Geneva Convention. In fact, Israel’s siege was a belligerent act of war. But the western press, including the US media, failed to report it honestly and now they blame the victims. The Palestinians, we are told, are responsible for Israel’s attacks upon them because of the Qassams. Of course, due to the media filter the average American probably has never heard of the siege, and doesn’t even know it happened. ...
... But the slaughter of more than 800 Palestinians, as I write, in addition to more than 3,000 injured, has had one positive effect: It has brought the deeper issue, the nature of Zionism, into sharper focus. The question that Americans should be asking is how 1.4 million Palestinians came to be crowded into Gaza in the first place. After all, the length and breadth of Israel/Palestine is the homeland of these Palestinians, no less than the home of the Jews. Both peoples have an equal claim to the land....
The shocking fact is that these Arabs remain incarcerated in Gaza today for the same reason they were driven from their homes in the first place. In Israel this is euphemistically referred to as the "demographic problem," a polite way of saying that in 1948 the Palestinians stood squarely in the path of the Zionist plan to settle all of Palestine with Jews. For this reason they had to be made to disappear. This is why the Palestinians were herded into refugee camps at that time and it is why they continue to be incarcerated in Gaza today. Israel will not incorporate them because their sheer numbers would pollute the ethnic/racial purity of the Jewish state.
This is the deeper issue, and it brings to mind the Apartheid "solution" cooked up by the racists in South Africa, where unwanted blacks were segregated into separate Bantustans to keep them out of sight (and out of mind) of the white minority rulers. Fortunately, the people of South African dismantled their Apartheid system years ago. But it survives today in Israel/Palestine in an even more pernicious form. In fact, Israel is probably the last of the settler colonies that were common during the heyday of colonialism, in the 18-19th centuries...
in 2009 this hierarchical way of organizing society is far out of step with present-day standards of morality and justice. Uncritical US support for Israeli-style Apartheid has thus placed the United States on the wrong side of history, an ugly reality that ought to be a source of concern, indeed, of alarm, for each and every American. At issue is the racist nature of the Zionist enterprise, and it’s long past time that we call the thing by its true name.

Try this on hyper and see if you can stop lying.
Reply
1. As long as history has been going on wars have changed what country is in control of any land. Going back as far as history goes that has been a fact of life.
2. After WW1 Britain ended up with Palestine.
3. Jews have lived in that land for over 3,500 years.
4. Britain was dividing the land between the Jews and Muslims under the League of Nations.
5. That process was interrupted by WW2 and continued under the UN.
6. In 1948 as their right to do it Britain gave part of the land to the Jews and the largest part to Muslims as Trance Jordan.
7. Immediately the Muslims started a jihad against the Jews to drive them into the sea and kill them there.
8. Several wars leading into the 1967 war were the same concept. Muslims lost the Golan Heights, west bank, Gaza and the Sinai peninsula. Too bad. Don't start something you can't finish.
9. Israel gave back the Sinai to Egypt for a peace treaty but they did not want Gaza back for some reason. Today they refuse to let Muslims to cross the Gaza/Egypt border.
10. Everybody told Israel that if they gave the Muslim Palestinians their own homeland there would be peace. They gave them Gaza and as they pulled out the suicide bombers and missiles started the same day. NO PEACE AS PROMISED.
11. The Hamas charter says that the ONLY ACCEPTABLE RESULT is the DESTRUCTION OF ISRAEL. Their words that have NEVER been rescinded.
Keep in mind that hyper is a Muslim that visits Gaza and is totally on their side. So he does the al taqiyya thing of lying to protect Islam.

You have, I imagine, never been in an air raid and have no concept of what it is like.
Furthermore I would ask you to imagine the difference between the explosive power of a Qassam rocket and that of the favourite weapon of the IAF the 500 pound bomb. I await your reply with interest.-

What difference does the relative explosive power of Qassam rockets versus IAF 500 pound bombs make? Proportionality, by way of judging a military response to an aggressive military action, is a totally specious argument. Simply stop the Qassam rockets and the IAF will stop the bombs. It is very simple.

stop the blockades, stop the land theft, stop the abuse of human rights, stop the concentration camp-like life style of gaza and the west bank and stop the collective punishment of the citizens of gaza.... and you'll stop the rockets.... that will stop the idf's 500 pound bombs, f18s, apache helicopters, mercava tanks, navy gunships and the use of white phosphorous over densely populated gaza..... or so you say.

those sad pathetic little rockets have a very powerful reason......

yes, the hamas charter. that's seems to be all you ever talk about. a charter that calls for the destruction of israel.... as if they ever could. it is pure deluded wishful thinking.
Reply
however it seems to be the only justification you religiously provide for murderous israeli's own racism that continues unabated and genocide in practice as we speak.....
you don't need to read between the lines of any charters or manifestos to understand that.
all you need do is watch your tv

The Hamas organization are terrorist. I do feel for thier families (the few not involved, such as unknowing children) and other innocents but they (Hamas) choose to operate from civilian sites. Hamas is cruel to their own kind.

David Joel Horowitz (born January 10, 1939) is a American conservative writer and activist. The son of two life-long members of the Communist Party, and once a supporter of Marxism as well as a member of the New Left in the 1960s, Horowitz later renounced his "left-wing political radicalism" and became an advocate for conservatism.
He is a founder of the David Horowitz Freedom Center (formerly the Center for the Study of Popular Culture), and has served as president of that organization for many years. He is the editor of the conservative website FrontPage Magazine, and his writings can be read on news sites and publications, including the conservative magazine NewsMax.[1] He founded the activist group Students for Academic Freedom and is affiliated with Campus Watch. Keep saying the same thing day after day, keep your agenda going via the same old tired jokes day after day after day. Truly genius.
Remind me what the definition of insanity is again?
He has a good thing going though...as long as he can keep those ratings up. Its really quite a simple formula.
If you cannot see through his thinly veiled contempt or erroneous logic, I pity you.
However if you enjoy him for his tired old routine, I applaud you; for being easily amused.

Do you understand the concept of throwing a stone at a hive of killer bees? Not a smart thing to do if you want to live.
When Hitler attacked England was England supposed to just send the same number and type of bombs to Germany that Germany sent to England? You seem to have your head in the sand about how wars are fought. The objective of the military is to smash the other side with minimal deaths on their side. As General Sherman said, "War is hell." -

Hyper. I don't think your knowledge of the facts in the middle east is going to affect the thinking of many of the people on this thread. For example I have read several time in threads about how the Arabs started the 1967 war. Not true. Even the Israelis admit they started it.
Reply
They ( Israel ) admitted it about a year after it began.
Had the world taken the same path when the Germans were eliminating the Jews during World War II, there wouldn't be any reason to speak of Jews today. They would have been a historical asterisk.
So a people who were saved from a rabid Government have now themselves morphed into a rabid Government killing Arabs just as indiscriminately as did the Germans kill Jews in the WWII time frame.
You would think the Jews would seek peace, but Hyper is right. They don't want peace. They have, and have had, since before the founding of Israel, had one goal - the eradication of the Arab people from the Zionist dreamland. -

I can only shake my head and laugh at the inconsistency of Cons on the issue of Israel.

A Con will tell me that Israel has a right to defend itself. Fair enough.
A Cons will tell me Hamas started this. I beg to differ on that point.
European Jews imported into the region in the 20's were attacked by Arabs because the immigration was seen as the start of an invasion that would lead to the ultimate aims of Zionists. And they were right.
Do people truly believe that it was right for the British to determine the immigration policies in the mandate? To actively seek to carve out a "homeland" for Jews?
I find it funny because just as sure as a Con will raise a might huzza for Israel, they'll immediately turn around and spit on an immigrant from south of the border telling that person that they are wrong to invade our land and seek to take our resources and change our culture.
For shame, truly. -
