FTA: ""We believe that the oath of office was administered effectively and that the President was sworn in appropriately yesterday. But the oath appears in the Constitution itself. And out of an abundance of caution, because there was one word out of sequence, Chief Justice Roberts administered the oath a second time," he said.

Article 2, Section 1, Clause 8 of the Constitution states:

"Before he enter on the Execution of his Office, he shall take the following Oath or Affirmation:

"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

Roberts' flub on Tuesday sent the new chief executive into a verbal detour of his own.""

    Better safe than sorry!!

LOL..after the way Obama's birth certificate was over-scrutinized to the point of absurdity, I don't blame anyone for being extra-safe, and administering the oath twice. 8)

Yes. It was beautiful that the prideful actions of one of Bush's appointees caused him to screw up the ONE THING he is really ever called to do correctly. This is why every single Supreme Court head justice in the past has READ the oath, rather than done it from memory.

Wow, twice (at least) in one week that we agreed on something and lately my hand doesn't involuntarily punch the neg button the instant I see your avatar. ;-P But seriously, I thought the same thing. For better or worse, the thought of what it would be like to hear "I, Barack Hussein Obama..." has been on most minds since Obama began campaigning a couple years ago. It was a first for both of them and I can only imagine what they must have felt knowing millions (if not billions) of eyes from all over the world were on them.

"like it matters"...it doesn't to the so called progressive socialistcons. It is not Roberts fault Obama couldn't get it right. I do hear we are getting our stimulous checks soon.....I am going to return mine and hope others do the same to account for the stimulous checks those who don't pay taxes who will recieve money.

I know, you think I am horrible for not believing that 500 dollars are going to "CHANGE" the lives of those on welfare...and that 500 dollars will stimulate the economy. It might stimulate the local crack dealers economy, but that is not to be generalized, that is just what will happen in my neck of the woods.

I see... But didn't cons support a candidate who somehow thought she was prepared to be a heartbeat away from the Presidency (shockingly, she's now threatening to run for President in four years)--despite several disgracefully poor attempts (a couple of them while on national TV) to accurately describe the role of the Vice President? And how much does it matter to cons that you gravitate towards candidates who are poorly educated and, in two recent cases (I'll let you take your pick), damn near functionally illterate? ;-(
