Why Do Christians Say Jesus Is The Only Way To Heaven? »
Posted By Revelation1412 11 months, 1 week ago in ReligionHave you ever wondered why Christians would be so intolerant to say that their religion is the only right way? Isn't it arrogant to say that only members of one religion are going to heaven while everyone in all the other religions are not?

Have one point with which I disagree however.
FTA: "But the reality is that there is no other payment for our sins. That is why Jesus HAD to go to the cross. Being man, Jesus could die for the sins of men, and being God, Jesus could die for an infinite number of sins."
The apostles taught Jesus was without sin. He became the Lamb of God and all sin was laid upon Him. The issue is not that He being God could "die for an infinite number of sins." The issue is that He was sinless before God as the picture of the spotless lamb in the OT points to. The Bible says He became SIN in Isaiah 53:1-10 and 2 Corinthians 5:17-21. That is more than "sins". That is SIN itself. If He dealt with SIN then all sins (plural) are also dealt with. But His being God is not relevant on this point. Him being sinless, and Paul calls Him the Second Man and the Last Adam, was necessary to become the Lamb of God to be slain for our sins and take sin away. God laid upon Him our sins, sicknesses, pains and SIN. The Apostle Peter agrees with this statement as well in his espisles.
We are either IN ADAM and therefore sinners or IN CHRIST made children of God because we have confessed Him as Lord. -

The article is correct in quoting Christ as the only way to God is through him. It is incorrect, I believe in discounting the religions that promise only heaven. This is the true power of a real belief in Christian teachings. We do not just get heaven, we get God, the father, Himself.

Well. It's correct in citing the English translation as supposed 'proof' of this.
But there are certainly a lot of contradictions within the Bible, aren't there.

You must admit, Christianity is pretty vehement about who is right, who is wrong and precisely what happens to those who are wrong. Hinduism and Buddhism keep giving you chances to get it right, and neither demand you go out and attempt to convert others in order to 'save' them. Judaism has a similar live-and-let-live philosophy. For the Fundamentalist Christian, ONLY those who accept Christ as their savior have a shot at the milk and honey, and anyone who doesn't believe is hell-bound. Period.

My way or the highway! Jesus' teachings for the most part is universally good. But when his delusion of being son of God got in the way, that's where I draw the line. He was a good man but not a God. God is a concept and not reality.

Christians who preach remind me of a saying I heard some years ago: "There are many different paths to the top of the mountain, but the man who stops to tell everyone that -his- path is the only TRUE path makes no upward progress."

If there is a god, which I don't claim to know one way or the other, he will not turn me away because I didn't believe in a 2,000 year old story that goes overboard in trying to anthropomorphize him. He will look into my heart, and he will see that I lived as kindly and compassionately as I could, and I went out of my way to make the planet he gave us a better place.
Of that, I am truly confident. 8)-

You will realize one day you are "truly" wrong.
John 3:16 (New International Version)
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."
Jesus said He had not come to judge the world but then He would return and all judgement would be given to Him. The apostles taught and the book of Revelation reveals Jesus will judge all who do not accept Him as Lord and a Savior. Jesus and the Apostles taught no one will be able to appease God by good intentions, warm fuzzy feelings or good works no matter how laudable.
This is not harsh. This is justice. This complies with the holy Divine nature of God and therefore stands firm. I can tell you why and how if you are wish to know.
