"Okay, I'll send you a response, but I don't need 400 words, I need four: I hope he fails." (interruption) What are you laughing at? See, here's the point. Everybody thinks it's outrageous to say. Look, even my staff, "Oh, you can't do that." Why not? Why is it any different, what's new, what is unfair about my saying I hope liberalism fails? Liberalism is our problem. Liberalism is what's gotten us dangerously close to the precipice here. Why do I want more of it? I don't care what the Drive-By story is. I would be honored if the Drive-By Media headlined me all day long: "Limbaugh: I Hope Obama Fails." Somebody's gotta say it.

NO one attacked Bush from March 2001 September 2001 when he proposed
stimulus checks..NO ONE opposed Bush from September 2001-December 2001 when he patiently showed leadership in dealing with the Taliban..
NO one said one bad word about Bush into the Spring of 2002 when we went into Afghanistan, while the court was still out on "NO Child Left behind"...

Think a minute about that comment. When a person states what they think someone like EE believes that they should be expelled from the country. That is disgusting hate speech. Then you support removing freedom of speech for the right on the only avenue they have. Talk radio. Your fairness doctrine is just that. A way of removing the conservative talk from the airwaves. It would be financially impossible for radio stations to comply so they would have NO POLITICAL TALK. But that is what liberals want. Schumer likened conservative talk to porn. This is disgusting. One of the principles this country was founded on was the concept of "I disagree with what you say but I will die for your right to say it." Where has that concept gone for the left. No discussion of differences but just diatribes against the opposition and wanting to expel and silence the opposition. That is unAmerican. This country was founded on free speech. -

I don't listen to Rush often. I simply don't have the time. I did however catch his interview where they took his partial quote from. The question circled around his ultra left wing liberal agenda. High taxes, more handouts and big spending government solutions. He was asked if he wanted to see all of Obama's left-wing agenda. That was where he said he didn't want him to succeed. Rush did say he wanted to see America to succeed. Doesn't sound unpatriotic to me. -

While I agree that Rush is a cyst on humanities butt, I don't agree that we need to take him off the air. This is still a free country and if people want to listen to his lies and misconception about nearly everything, it is their right and the right of the radio stations to air it. What I would like to see is a return of some type of Fairness Doctrine, so that these stations that broadcast on public airwaves will have to give some air-time for a rebuttal to his nonsense.

EE - I suspect the good wishes from Rush were going to come sooner or later. But rather than getting all frothed, should we be wondering what constitutes "failure" and who determines it? The answer to that may make any statement by Rush irrelevant and the frothing as well.

He's also a great one for scaring people...anyone who will listen to his drivel without giving it a second thought. He knows Obama isn't a far left liberal bent on turning the country into the socialist hub of the world, no more than McCain was bent on turning the country into a haven for conservatives...all politicians, like most people, realize they have to cater to the middle to be listened to, and consider themselves lucky if they get a little of the fringe from either side of that middle.
When the shock wears off, these entertainers come up with something new and will start the whole process all over again, to shock another day...

Rush has to say outlandish things. It is his schtick. He admits that he is but a lowly entertainer. He is a hate comic. They have existed for centuries. Millenia even, probably an epoch! The airwaves simply give him a wide reach. Rush is enriching himself at the expense of America. It is only his listeners who fail to realize this.
Can you imagine a world run by such a blustering fool? The hypocrisy and the condemnation. There wouldn't be much funny about it. Rush will be pushing Sarah Palin in 2012. She is everything Rush admires. The t ype of simpleton politician he loves. But Bush failed him in the end. He still loves Cheney though. He loved him like a Rottweiler. Rush stroked him and fed his ego. It was afterall a mutual exchange. Palin will be his next pet. Maybe she will curl up in his lap like Michelle Malkin?
Don't ever doubt the influence of this buffoon. He has his minions who will throw themselves over a cliff in their worship of "El Rushbo". While they are a slowly dying breed (diversity will eventually drive them into obscurity) their candidates drew 58 million votes in November. Rush has his own little herd amongst that flock. And they move in lockstep. You disagree with the groupthink led by cuddly little Rush and you are quickly ostracized. The radio show is just a symbolic expression of this.
The GOP isn't dead yet. They will lay low like a snake using obstructionism and spin. But they will be back. Beware right-thinking Americans, they will be back, for one last hurrah at least. Beware! -

RUSH: -- if he does not eliminate the Bush tax cuts, I would call that success. So yes, I would hope he would succeed if he acts like Reagan. But if he's going to do FDR -- if he's going to do The New New Deal all over, which we will call here The Raw Deal -- why would I want him to succeed? Look, he's my president. The fact that he is historic is irrelevant to me now. It matters not at all. If he is going to implement a far-left agenda... Look, I think it's already decided: a $2 trillion in stimulus? The growth of government? I think the intent here is to create as many dependant Americans as possible looking to government for their hope and salvation. If he gets nationalized health care, I mean, it's over, Sean. We're never going to roll that back. That's the end of America as we have known it, because that's then going to set the stage for everything being government owned, operated, or provided. Why would I want that to succeed? I don't believe in that. I know that's not how this country is going to be great in the future; it's not what made this country great. So I shamelessly say, "No! I want him to fail." If his agenda is a far-left collectivism -- some people say socialism -- as a conservative heartfelt, deeply, why would I want socialism to succeed?

He is excellent at spewing nonsense, he is a great actor, unfortunately his sudience is so aroused by his emotional intensity they lose their ability to think clearly. ..and some could never think clearly to begin with.
