I actually think people should work hard to learn other languages besides their "primary" tongue --- it is culturally BROADENING. And with respect to SPANISH, well THAT IS THE SECOND LANGUAGE OF THIS COUNTRY --- spoken to some degree by FULLY 30% OF EVERYONE HERE! That statistical fact derives from the HISTORICAL REALITY that much of the territory of this country WAS TAKEN OVER FROM MEXICO well over a century ago --- which resulted in a VERY LARGE INDIGENOUS HISPANIC POPULATION AND CULTURE HERE.
