FTA: "The exchange arose as top House and Senate Republicans expressed concern to the president about the amount of spending in the package"

Where were all these whinners when Paulson went running to the White House for a bail out benefiting only the financial institutes??

Why aren't they more focused on what is going on in the banking industry with our Tax payer money???

Maybe you don't watch the news or anything but a majority of the Republicans didn't want the bailout. If I remember they were calling it socialism. It was all over the news.

A bigger question is why Obama supported a bailout of Bush's buddies? Maybe because Obama has some of the same friends. It's amazing to me as well that Obama would pick Timothy Gheitner and no one cares. First the guy didn't pay taxes. Secondly and the biggest issue, This man supported the failed policy's of the BUsh administration because he supported Ben Bernanke. Ben Bernanke lead us into this mess and now we are going to hire someone with the same policy to fix it?

I guarantee in four years, Obama will not be Jesus anymore.

They weren't whining then EE because Paulsen is a good 'ole boy and fellow repub.

Face it the Republicans aren't liking that they're no longer in charge and that changes are being made, have been made and will be made that will correct a lot of damage they allowed because they didn't have the cajones to stand with those who dared tell Bush no.

        Your kidding right !?!?!

The original bill was shot down by a group of both republicans and democrats. They added FAT to the bill and all of a sudden it was worth passing. They did this right in front of our faces. Democrats and Republicans!!!!

So who is watching this money!!! Who is this Financial committee and how many times have they met? Try and find that one out.

If they have you pointing fingers, they are playing you for a SMUCK, they played us all for smucks.

Now we will get a trillion dollar deficit and the liberals complained about the $400 billion of Bushes deficit. Hypocrites. Where is the money coming from to pay this bill. How many years into the future will we be indentured to pay for it. Gee I am sounding like a liberal of just a few months ago. Silly me.

I notice the bipartisanship that Obama talked about has gone up in smoke with the words "I won."

The 1.2 trillion projected deficit is thanks to Bush. It was projected during HIS administration. It's amazing how, four days into his serving, you're trying to lay all of Bush and ChenyCo's **** poor policies at the foot of someone else.

In fact he is inviting Republicans to include a package of tax cuts for small businesses as part of the stimulus plan and most are pleased with the bipartisanship. There are some who will hold out for ideological reasons or grandstanding, but this bill will pass. The country needs it and were in no mood for Republican games. If the GOP has any interest in retaining what seats they have left, they will start responding to the public need and pull their heads out of Limbaugh's ass.

Republicans see this depression as an opportunity to beat back labor, as with the provisions they wanted for the auto company loans. Handouts to the boys on Wall Street is just helping out the nice folks they "pal around with."
