Obama Meets White House Press Corps gets annoyed at questions »
Posted By HOUSEMD 10 months ago in News“Annoyed” is a relative term when it comes to Cool Hand Luke but the irritation was palpable enough to squeeze a story out of Politico. What, pray tell, did they do to irk the un-irkable? Why, the one thing that could be counted on to get a rise out of him throughout his interminable campaign: They asked him a question.

Can anyone fathom how Obama's choice of Raytheon's William J. Lynn, currently a lobbyist for the defense giant, could be nominated under the principals of his new ethic rules? The Presidents choice of Lynn is to serve as Deputy Secretary of Defense just last week was unethical.

Direct Quote From Carl Levin
Reply
"Given the President's new stricter rules requiring his appointees to recuse themselves from matters or issues on which they have lobbied, the Senate Armed Services Committee will need further information before proceeding."
Since Obama has spoken forget the ethics rule?
Robert Gibbs said Thursday that "even the toughest rules require reasonable EXCEPTIONS',..... HE IS UNIQUELY QUALIFIED TO SERVE THE PUBLIC IN THESE CRITICAL TIMES.

It was clear he was agitated at them for questioning him on his choice of Lynn. Will be interesting to see how this plays out.

I, with out doubt, love it when a politician gets caught by his own words.
Reply
This is too good to be true.
As for the agitation factor.. I mean he is the 'Messiah' and 'We The People' should, without question, understand his contradictory decisions and utterances.
However....Should we, the agitated and confused masses, 'pray' for patience and understanding?
If so, who should we pray to?-

So what's the problem? He was trying to get aquainted, see how things are set up, and say hello to the press corps, introducing himself. He said more than once he wasn't there for a press conference. Obviously the media guy has the attention span of a two year old. Obama was right to let him know yet again that wasn't why he was there. End of story.

I think what you are going to find is that Obama really dislikes the media and has all along. He simply used them for his purposes - to get elected

When this finally dawns upon members of the MSM, it is going to be an interesting thing to watch - the MSM turning on the Messiah they promoted

Okay Okay okay OKAY, CONS, please break up the circle jerk and move along, nobody wants to see your tiny chiney chubbies around here. Try posting something from a website that still has relevance.

You know everyone should let up on President OBama...Let him do his job...it isn't easy for him to come into a disaster that was created by the former Pres.
Reply
Everyone is looking at him through a microscope...(when is he gonna screw up? You know he will....) This is all bull and you all know it...GIVE HIM A CHANCE.. How would you all act if you were in his shoes? give a press conference when you weren't there for that purpose?
All he is doing is letting people know that everytime the people see him..is NOT a reason to all of the sudden figure--"HEY..there is the president...lets ask him a zillion questions..Let him get settled into his new job.-

Leave Obama alone.
Reply
He has no obligation to answer any questions from anyone. He does not have to tell us anything about anything that he does or is going to do. The media should be silenced from ever asking Obama any questions at all, NEVER. We don't have any rights to know what Obama plans to do with our country in the future. Obama should just outlaw press meetings. Those guys are just to damn nosy.-

I suppose it would be better to plant "reporters" in the audience to ask questions to which the previous president rehearsed answers?
Reply
Obama has promised a much more open and transparent government-- right now I'm still in "wait and see" mode. Getting annoyed at one person who ignored the ground rules for this meeting hardly constitutes supressing the press.

THE FOX SHOULD NOT BE IN CHARGE OF THE HEN HOUSE

I agree that William J. Lynn is clearly a problem. I disagree with such an appointment.
Under the last administration war profiteering reached new heights and this should not be repeated. When a decision NOT to go to war means lower profits for a company you worked for... it is clearly a conflict of interest to have such a person participate in decisions let alone be Deputy Secretary of Defence.
I would, however, say that Obama was NOT out of line when he calmly insisted that this was a friendly Meet & Greet and not a press conference.
Watch the whole video not just minute 3:20, and you will see that Obama was being quite correct and reasonable...
This was a Junk submission. MORE PARTISAN FIDDLING WHILE AMERICA BURNS... a pity!! -

There is an appropriate time and place for everything. President OBama went out of his way to go to the press room for a casual visit with the press corps in hopes of trying to get to know them better and they to know him. By all reports President Bush NEVER did the same. OBama apparently likes to separate business from pleasure and he stated right up front that this was not a business visit. Apparently that reporter doesn't understand our language. Must be a con.
Reply
And as far as the Lynn appointment goes, he was the stated choice of Gates for his deputy. I suspect OBama said OK I'll give you your man but we had better see some results or there will be changes. Just as any boss likes to choose his own right hand man Gates chose Lynn and OBama allowed him that option. He, very likely, was not OBama's choice.-

fsev - yes, the press should have listened, but it won't be long before Obama realizes there is not such thing as being with reporters and not being asked questions.
Reply
That is why they are there - and it will be a new experience for Obama to be asked penetrating questions.

Banks are stealing from us, insurance company's are stealing from us, Brokers are stealing, Don't you think the economy could be in this bad shape because folks don't know if OB1 can handle it?

I love this website "hotair" as that's what fills this site-disgruntled republican hot air. I didn't see President Obama as irked at all. He went down for an informal meeting of the press corps. He explained the visit and informed them there would be an official press conference in the near future- no irked undertones. We'll see a much different relationship with this administration and the press than we did the last 8 years.
