FTA: "The Gallup Organization survey found 68 percent of Americans approve of Obama's performance as the nation's chief executive. That's a number near the high end for new presidents, but short of President John F. Kennedy's 72 percent in 1961.""

But to be honest I feel it is going to get really bad economically before it gets better, I don't think people realize how hard it is going to be with 10% unemployment, all the small business going out of business and all the corporations losing money, this is a serious mess that bail outs can't fixx. -

Yes n2n. We have a great Treasury Secretary. Just a little problem paying taxes. He signed papers from his employer telling him he had to pay. His accountants told him he had to pay. Halfway through the time this occurred he was audited by the IRS and they told him he had to pay. He just ignored all of them. What a guy. Everybody should follow his lead after all he is now going to be over the IRS.

Obama.. wants to spend in AMERICA for many of the same things Bush spent for in Iraq..
but spending in the USA where it MIGHT have a real impact on jobs and overall quality of living .. is somehow LIBERAL OR SOCIALISTIC ..
since you brought it up... explain why spending money we did not have in Iraq was a good thing and spending it HERE is not...-

You have no more worries about Money. Just look at who the Treasury secretary is going to be. Just a little $42,000 tax problem where he ignored the company he worked for, his accountants, and the IRS who all told him in no uncertain terms that he had to pay. Aw so what. He paid as soon as he heard about being nominated for this post.

Obama has definately hit the ground running. So far I'm also very happy with his performance. What scares me is Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi. I think that they more than the Republicans are more likely to mess things up for the President. The Democrats in Congress need to resist the temptation to lock the Republicans out of the process like they did to the Democrats when they had all the power. Only together and listening to each other can we heal this nation.

It appears that the Republicans according to John Bohner still want the same failed policies that have caused this economic chaos in the first place so how can you negotiate with an ideologue that support a failed policy? What the Democrats should do is work in a bipartisan environment but stand firm against proven failed policies. What gets me is the same people that are concerned about the taxpayers money wore blinders for the last eight years.

The Republicans delighted in keeping the Dems out of the loop. Now it's the Dem;s turn. As far as I'm concerned, every G-dam republican in the country can go sit in the corner and sulk while we try to get us out of their mess. WHY in hell should we listen to the repubs when THEY are the reason we're in this pickle? Deregulation, free market system, let the big boys do whatever they want, etc. etc. DOES NOT WORK! We need some stinkin rules!!!

As for the poling - that's another matter entirely - do you mean best location or best position - or both? What is the "thing" to which you refer?
I can assure you though, despite personal inexperience, that when you're planning to organise group sex on that scale there are many important things to be considered - this is not something to take on lightly nor to get carried away about, even if its on a stretcher. -

Is it just me or does it seem that the approval of Obama matches the disapproval of Bush which would mean that the ones that disapprove of Obama are the same ones that have approved Bushes failed policies for the last eight years. Go figure.

and what those numbers might point to is the realization that this country is not 50-50 between cons and lib/progs as the conservatives have been trying to tell us. the truth is, there is a definite slant towards progressive thought in this country. -

Evidently you have been out of touch with congress lately. Unlike the Republicans, the Democrats think for themselves and there is already disagreement. That disagreement is what makes government work. Not the lock step Republicans we saw during the 12 years of Republican controlled congress.

There were quite a few Democrats who openly and loudly criticized Obama for his choice in Rick Warren for the invocation. PC25 happily posted stories on the flap, I am surprised you missed it.

--Why do cons ask nutball questions like this--as if you would even appreciate the value of criticism? Why does that even matter to people who say they revere Bush because he IGNORED criticism? You don't know anything about criticism. All cons want to do is sit back and watch for signs of conflict within the party so you can claim Democrats are imploding the way Republicans have been for the past two years--and you know this. -

Obama may have some good idea's but he has got to deal with the same stupid democrats in washington that tied Bush's hands, and let wall street rob the world. When my IRA retirement plan gets back up where it was,and hopefully before I die, I then can say Obama did something.

Yeah, he did in 8 hours some of the sh*t it took us 8 years to NOT accomplish thanks to the lack of a veto-proof majority in congress. Note anything the dems did in the last two years kept being blocked by repubatcons that wanted to suck Bushies Man-teet. can't speak for W, but the first time I met my upstairs neighbor, Larry, it was summer and he was shirtless
Midway thru the conversation I look down and, lo and behold, the man got 3 nipples
That was the first [and last] time I have seen that, and I was unaware of even the possibility, so I deserved an Oscar for acting like nothing happened and continuing the conversation, while inwardly, all my preconceptions of what constitutes reality were shattered and in free fall
I tell this so you may be spared any shock if a similar incident befalls you

BTW, once people started wearing nipple chains and the like, all I could think about when I heard Larry upstairs was isosceles triangles

Why sure. He's supporting science. He's supporting fixing our failing infrastructure. He's supporting education. He's supporting the reproductive health of women in third world country's without blackmailing clinics into towing his philosophical stand on abortion. He's supporting beefing up much needed security and infrastructure at our ports. He's supporting investing in our future energy needs. He's addressing our economy. He's setting down parameters for integrity in his administration. He's set on cleaning up our failed department of justice. He's closing the filth that is Guantonomo. What's not to like? Dubyatard was in office for eight months before the economy tanked, but according to Dubyatards, that was Clinton's Recession.
Reply
The recession started over a year ago, but, according to Dubyatards this recession is Obama's, although he took the oath of office six days ago.
I noticed that FOXLIES reported on an AlQueda leader who was released from Gitmo that has rejoined his comrades, but little is said about the fact that he was released over a year ago.
Maybe the Dubyatards need a lesson in math, and a better understanding of the time/space continuum.-

First, the recession started in Clinton's administration. In July of 1999 the stock market had hit 11,313, but by March 7, 2000 it had dropped to 9796.03.It went back up some but then the stock market dropped from 10,843 on July 20, 2000 to 9,772 on January 18, 2001 (the last stock trading day of the Clinton era). That is a drop of 13% in the last 18 months of the Clinton Administration, So I think the arguement can be made that it started during the Clinton administration. Second, I don't hear anyone blaming O'bama for the present mess. Plenty of blame to go around. But he deserves none of it. Not so the Democrats, as the heads of the commitees in charge of banking and credit policy were Democrats and pushed the horiible lending practices that lead in large part to the financial collapse.

The Repukes complain about the hero worship of Obama, but chant Reagan's name like he were the messiah, and speak of him as if he hated government, and saved America from those bad old democrats.
Reply
It was Reagan who started us down this road, demanding we deregulate business and keep our nose out of their affairs, and instead take away the power to negotiate of all of those bad old unions who were sapping these poor old multi national corporations with silly topics like rights and standards.
Now we have companies flying out of this country, putting up shop overseas until those followers of Ronnie Christ eliminate workers rights and quality standards altogether.-

I'm in a a union and I know first hand the benefits of union representation. However, the autoworkers union is a classic example of a good idea gone bad. Their pay and benefits are a hell of a burden to carry The air trafiic controllers union should have known that Reagan wasn't going to let them shut down the country, but they thought they were bigger than they really were. Just where do you and all of your ilk think the Global vision of your party is going to lead. I'll point out that YOUR previous messiah Clinton signed NAFTA into law. If he thought it was so terrible he should have vetoed it. The unions are like minorities. Usefull patsies for a party the cares for there own power much more than the welfare of it's supporters. They are all politicians, Republican and Democrat and will do what they can to consolidate their power unless we, the people keep an eye on them. I wish O'bama success, because success is good for my country and me. But I trust him as far as I can see him and watch him.

Obama brings to Washington hope which Americans haven't had in many, many years. It would be nice to have some constructive spending and not just on military ventures, security contracts for already rich companies and cronies in the financial markets who have pillaged our country into economic chaos.
Reply
We need to get Americans back to work in our own country and stop supporting countries like China,India and totalitarian regimes.
America could find out what happened to the 12B which was sent to Iraq and disappeared. Paul Bremer had no answer for that and he should be charged with fraud or theft. -

President Obama has his hands full. To have a 68' approval rating is beyond fantastic. Never, in the history of this country have we witnessed such economic catastrophic upheaval. This is just the beginning. Factor in a 6.5 percent unemployment along with the 6.0 percent underemployed. The only way out of this is to hurry as fast as we can to create new jobs. American companies need to expand their buisnesses here. The minority party is trying their best to stall this out. We have to speak out loud and clear to keep this ship afloat.

I know this is a day late and a dollar short but this poll you mention does not add up to 100%. You see, 45% strongly approve and about 15% that strongly disapprove is only 60%. Typical con reporting because there were 23% that approve of Obama's handling of the presicency that would be added to the 45% that strongly approve.
Reply
However, Obama’s ratings remain far above those earned by his predecessor. President Bush left office with a final Presidential Approval Index rating of -28 (15% Strongly Approve and 43% Strongly Disapprove). Forty-four percent (44%) of Democrats believe that Bush and senior members of his Administration are guilty of war crimes.
