The Archbishop of Canterbury today added to criticism of the BBC over its refusal to broadcast a charity appeal for aid to Gaza . This has been a very controversial topic, with the BBC receiving over 11,000 complaints and 50 MP's planning on backing a motion calling on the BBC to change its mind.
A more detailed story regarding the plight that the appeal is trying to address can also be found here: http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2009/jan/25/gaza-p...

    The other story that I tried to provide a link for in the summary is here [BUT comes with the caveat that it IS a very tough read]

    There is a sub-text in my opinion to this story and that is that the BBC was virtually castrated by the Blair regime in the context of a story about the murder of Dr David Kelly. Dr Kelly was found dead on July 18 2003 after being named as the possible source of a BBC story on the government's Iraq dossier. This "unsolved mystery" was one of the single most damaging blows to British democracy and the quiescence of the BBC has been notable ever since.

    This Archbishop of Canterbury is a stupid person. What are they going to do with the money? But more missiles. There is an Arab country that is going to give them $1 billion. And this foolish person wants to give terrorists more money. Well stupid is as stupid does.

    "the Archbishop of York, the John Sentamu"

    Interestingly, the article does not mention how much the Archbishop sent to the Gaza "innocents"...of course, he's sure that none of those funds will be used to buy arms to murder Jews....I'm sure he's real concerned about that possibility....Back to putting his money where his mouth is...Is it possible that the Archbishop is like most of the "unbiased" posters on this site - all talk and no action? Could it be that they use Israel's defensive actions in Gaza as something to beat Israel with??? That they don't give a rat's @ss about the "innocents" suffering in Gaza except that it gives them a convenient "fig leaf" to hide their blatent hatred?

    Well, one thing is for sure. The Archbishop (like the posters on this site) will never admit the truth.

      Fits well with the ban by Israel on reporters in Gaza. Just another attempt to hide the truth.
      Did the BBC remain neutral in the last holocaust too?

      Thank you for your comment on the BBC and Blair and which the true story despite what offcomers would like to think. You may not know that Blair LOANED an Epstein bust of Churchill to Bush to flatter Bush's delusion that he was a war leader of the stature of Churchill: what nonsense! There has been no mention of its return and it will be worth megbucks. Of course Blair did not have the authority to do this but he did it just the same.
      I'm afraid Justice4all has no concept of how the BBC kept British and Occupied Europe's morale high in WW2. J4A just likes a flip comment. Find someone who was in Europe in WW2 and have a long enlightening chat with them is my recommendation.

      The ArchBishop of Canterbury is the chief cleric of England;
      it is an ancient and interesting position.

      The medieval saint Thomas Becket, was Archbishop in 1170;
      he was murdered after the King complained aloud, 'Will no one rid me of this troublesome priest?'

      All priests should be trouble-makers.
      Let them all champion the dying, the oppressed, the bombed, the collateral-damaged, the lepers, the defamed, the poor,
      - exactly whoever those in power and pride shout against.

      It's part of their job.

      Blair is hard to figure. Crymp is dead to rights. Any legit spiritual man is obligated to stand up for all those who suffer.
      The Archbishop has shown himself to be a wise and likable man in numerous issues, not a bozo.
