Big mistake by Obama. This now makes for an interesting scenario if the Democrats decide to make a move to silence talk radio. It's not as if the broadcast syndicates Limbaugh, Hannity, Ingrahm, Levin and others dont have a war chest to wage a Freedom of Speech battle with the Obama administration. Smart on Limbaugh's part not too bright on Obama's. Any attempt now to to go after talk radio now will result in big problem for the Dems come the 2010 election.

Considering Mr. Limbaugh's performance in picking and supporting republican candidates in the primary, that is quite a statement.

Mr. Limbaugh is nothing more than an entertainer who effectively knows how to manipulate his audience. Does this make his followers twice as zealous? Quite possibly. Does it make each one twice as effective in bringing about the change they desire? I think you 'll need to provide some evidence for that. Good luck.

The very fact that Obama thinks he needs to attack RL is proof that he sees LM et al as a threat. Obama won based on warm fuzzy, "It time for a change". The statement meant nothing but struck a cord. The cord will soon become a noose as it becomes evident that Obama fooled the voters. He'll not have that platform to run upon in a re election bid. Them the LM's of the world will become even more powerful. Obama seeks to marginalize them now rather than later.

-"yep, limbaugh can beat him with half his brain tied behind his back"-

Which is apparently where he keeps it.

Mullah Limbaugh must not believe in the Democratic process.....he must feel that the Republic is below him.....so he resorts to the tactics employed by the Mullahs.

Didnt we have a referendum back in November that resoundingly defeated the Bush Doctrine and paved the way for progress rather than regression, recession and oppression?

What a fanatical fringe character that Mullah Limbaugh has become......but he has his faithful followers I see!

              Mainstream Media?

Hardly. Did you notice that you referred to people who broadcast almost exclusively from radio? AM radio is definately not the Mainstream Media.

The what exactly IS the MSM? The right keeps pointing to the high viewership on Fox, and the ratings garnered by Limbaugh. Doesn't that make THEM 'mainstream'? Or is it some sort of circular definition whereby anything left of center is automatically defined as 'mainstream'; and anything 'mainstream' is automatically left of center?

It is an attempt to brand something as bad.

Notice the irony in the success of the redefinition of the word in this context. Influential apparently has nothing to do with mainstream.

I better alert all traditional sources providing the definition. Since one definition is wrong, it casts suspicion upon all the definitions provided by these sources.

Merriman-Webster will now be approaching congress for a bailout.

Rush Limbaugh's definition is apparently good with you.

Noun = The prevailing current of thought, influence, or activity

Adjective = Representing the prevalent attitudes, values, and practices of a society or group

Throughout 2001-2006, how is Limbaugh, Hannity, etc... not mainstream? Heck, maybe you might want to add 1995-2000 to my dates considering the make up of our representatives in congress.

I'm not the one with the unaccepted, brand spanking new definition.

Go ahead, let's hear your definition. If you want to change your first letter to L, then you have a completely acceptable statement.

Jenna Jamison is the most sucessful porn star of her generation. Like rush she knows how to arouse emotion to catch the attention of the reptilian mind. I have a highly developed prefrontal cortex so I consider them both to be incredibly boring in the same way. I suspect Jenna has some resentment against rush because he has bigger tits and takes more drugs. As a consolation she is much more convincing. I can believe Jenna when she takes another and pretends like it hurts like the first time. That is more than I can say about rush who has made a habit of flashing his money to get married only to divorce later when she finds out that a bottle of Oxycontin and an erection get along like Jews and arabs. Hitler was a pretty big deal back in the 30's and early 40's. Won't catch me pimping him anymore than you are pimping rush. Once again same reason. Hitler knew how to appeal to losers who have a deformed prefrontal cortex. A deformed prefrontal cortex pretty much guarantees you will spend your life in prison unless you get sponsored by a hate group who thinks you have a better purpose in life like getting tricked into doing the big time killing and then when you are done with your job you wonder why the bosses all pretend like they never met you. At least Jenna does her own stunts

How about the republicans all time hero was and actor who read his lines until the alzheimers got to bad. The republicans second biggest hero was an ex junkie and drunk (not limblah) who couldn't even read the lines coherently and is known by a letter because he can't spell words. While we are talking about spelling lets bring up dan the potatoe man. Or how about the future of your party is the mountains of alaska with some bright red lipstick. W got elected in part because you idiots thought he would be cooler than Al Gore to have a beer with. If I want a beer I will go to the bar. If I want a president I will find a nobel prize winner. By the way do I need to mention what most people are thinking about when they see Palin? Recently she stopped being a MILF and is now a GILF. Why did your party keep running with joe who was complaining about the taxes on his plumbing business except he had no business and no plumbing license and didn't pay taxes either? Want some more? I am just starting to get into my groove.

Yes Lincoln was a republican. Also at one time the democrats had a lock on the south. Then Lincoln thought people were not property and the south went crazy. More recently the democrats thought that the color of your skin was not a valid consideration when it came to what school you went to or which drinking fountain you used. Once again the south went crazy and the party of Lincoln became the party of Jesse Helms. Lincoln couldn't break 10% if he ran in a republican primary today. If Lincoln ran as a dem today he would rack up Obama size approval ratings. Remember when republicans stood for small government? I don't, I am too young. The only republicans I know are the ones who spend like drunken sailors and ditch the tab.

Still not as bad as putting someone who's previous accomplishment was bankrupting his investment company with a combination of theft and incompetence with the emphasis on theft, so then W put him in charge of all the money and gave him 300 more billion and the big plot twist is he just kept lying and stealing. This is about as surprising as giving a junkie $40 to get a meal, a hair cut, and a clean shirt to wear to a job interview and the next time you see him he is lying in a gutter, puked the meal on the new shirt, the interview was 2 hours ago and there is an empty hypodermic next to him. By the way I don't like the fact that Obama is trying to put a republican wannabe into the treasury job either.

Dude Faux news already issued this "talking point" a few days ago and you botched the quote anyway. Stick to cut and paste moron. The republicans spend a lot of time and money thinking for you. Stick to the script and don't try to ad lib stuff.

Argument?? More like someone kicked sand in it's face or made off with it's pail and shovel in the sandbox.

I sincerely doubt that the Democrats will attempt to silence talk radio. As for Limbaugh--come on, the guy has been launching vicious, shrilly partisan attacks on Obama since the presidential campaign began. In November, he mocked Obama's final visit with his dying grandmother in Hawaii. Is this something you want to defend? In that sense, Limbaugh is a perfect symbol of the kind of partisanship Obama is trying to avoid, hence his casual allusion in that meeting. A better litmus test of Obama's own nonpartisan ambitions (which will certainly hit some speed bumps along the way): his choice of Rick Warren for the inaugural invocation. That alienated some of Obama's own base, but he did it anyway.

No, I find it the humorous response of a man who's been on the receiving end of racist nonsense for much of his life, starting with the Montgomery bus boycott in 1955. As a white person, I'm not offended by it. I'm not offended by Rick Warren's invocation, either--it's his equation of homosexuality with incest and ********** that I find problematic.
