    Thank you and good luck splitrch. I have a feeling that you are going to be in for a fight. For many of the elderly, giving up their right to drive is to them the same as giving up their last vestige of self worth and independence. Handling that is not going to be easy for you or for your mother.

      Oh Sarah, believe me I know how right you are. She is in the early stages of macular degeneration. What I have to say may be redundant. I want her to stop driving before she is forced to.

        So splitrch, your mother is losing her sight and her ability to drive at the same time. A double loss to her independence. My sympathies to your mother and to you. It's hard to see a parent hurting like she must be. I hope that both of you can find the strength to handle it.
