Obama's WH Chief of Staff Holds Daily, Secret Calls With Pals in Media »
Posted By RedRiverJ 9 months, 2 weeks ago in NewsPolitico reports that White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel holds daily chit chat sessions with several Old Media pals every morning to start his day. Apparently Emanuel has for years been involved with daily bull sessions to plan media coverage and ideological strategy with CNN's James Carville and Paul Begala, as well as ABC's George Stephanopoulos, with the occasional participation of pollster Stan Greenberg. But there is one little problem with this daily palling around with mediots these days: Emanuel now works for the White House. [Image credit: politico.com]

FTA-As Politico's John Harris notes, "in any given news cycle, it is quite likely that Washington’s prevailing political and media interpretation -- at least on the Democratic side -- is being hatched on these calls." In light of this early morning scheming, one has to wonder where the supposed autonomy of the media is if they are being programed by the Obama White House in off the record, secret and daily conversations? Where is their objectivity if these media mavens are all assisting Emanuel mold and shape the news to further a specific ideological goal?

Disney Corporation is leading the charge against the Obama Presidency ...

They are even more effective fighting against Obama than the Republican Public Relations arm ... also known as FOX.
ABC is trying hard to prove that it too is a loyal Republican Media Drone. They have been very self-congratulatory in finding this or that story about this or that Obama Administration appointee.
For instance, they have uncovered some Tax Income irregularities in Tom Daschle's past. Actually, I'm surprised I've not see this story posted on Propeller by "Obama Bashers".
Of course, I realize why Media is becoming so much more critical of Democrats ... they have been freed to do so by the Right Wing Chant of "Liberal Bias In Media".
See?
This is all my fellow Christian Conservatives, Neo-Conservative, and Trickle-Downers ever wanted. The chant is simply a cheaters way of getting media to bend over for them.
I must say, it's been very successful ... as evidenced by recent ABC activity.
But don't y'all find it to reveal a fundamental idiocy?
For instance, Ann Coulter is given numerous opportunities on every Media outlet to promote her book ... "Gulity".
And at every media opportunity, she whines about how she's unfairly treated by media.
Look, even a child can see through this charade ... it's pure Moral Vacancy ... Pure Invention ... a Cheat ... a Whine ... and purely representative of the absolute VACANCY of what the Modern Right stands for today in America.
There have been dozens and dozens of books written to describe the Modern Insanity of the Modern Right ... the absolute Looniest clutch of Tin Foil Hat fashionistas in America today.
These books NEVER get reviewed.
But have Newt Gingrich, Tom Delay, Ann Coulter, Lou Dobbs, Bill Kristol, or Jonah Goldberg write a book ... and they can be seen on every media outlet in America.
What's it all mean?
Quite simply, y'all on the Right are loony.
Of course, many said that about the insane accusations made by NAZI propagandists in 1930's Germany.
The world will ALWAYS have nihilists and anarchists who willingly lie and promote propaganda.
Today, we have Rush Limbaugh and the many, many, many others ... who will continue to make a fortune by stirring the inherent rage among those who hate being forced to be part of a nation.
Tomorrow, it will be someone else.
But for America to survive, I believe we must never waiver in our struggle against the Liars and Propagandists who want to sow suspicion and paranoia.
That's why I will ALWAYS argue against those who try to cheat their cynical ideology into the Mainstream of America by calling Mainstream America biased to the left ... when clearly ... it's not.

Actually, a cryin' little wussie who still can't get over the fact that we have a black president, and still can't figure out his caps lock key.
Give me a break here - are we upset because our current chief of staff has ties to the media? Wow. Suddenly, the ethics absent for the last eight years have re-emerged in a hyperacute fashion. What if there is government influence on the media? OMG! Has there not been, all along? Did you cry a river when the U.S. media went along like sheep with Dubbya's concocted reasons for invading Iraq? I didn't think so. You are just needy and desperate to have some dung to fling at Obama.

Looks like it never went away
Carville calls White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel. Emanuel calls ABC News Chief Washington Correspondent George Stephanopoulos. A bit later, CNN commentator Paul Begala, who is not quite the early bird that his friends are, will complete the circle with a rapid set of calls to all three. Different versions of this round-robin chatter have been taking place, with few interruptions, every workday for nearly a generation.
“I refer to it as the 17-year-long conference call,” said Emanuel, who starts calling his
friends at 6 a.m. “You can tap into it anytime you want.”

If this concept was true last April, then the same absolutely must be said of Carville, Begala and Greenberg, and even more so of ABC's George Stephanopoulos who is supposed to be a "news" man as opposed to an opinionist as Carville and Begala are.
I would agree with the critique of the "newsmen" as opposed to the opinion authors. Although I'm not sure why this is called secret. the article never says how it got this info.. are these meeting secret? or just part of the media briefing cycle?
there are always occasion when a journalist has private conversations with a source, but daily, closed door, group sessions does smack of propaganda planning.-

Hardly secret and certainly not part of media briefing
