Take Nukes Off the Table »

Okay, so Truman was about as wrong about nukes as any President could possibly be. The option of nuking civilians should never have been on the table then, and if Obama really wants "change we can believe in," he should take it off the table. And the sooner the better.

I for one do not think Truman made a bad decision based upon the situation at the time and the fact that Japan did a surprised attack on Pearl Harbor. In times of war, it's do onto others before they do onto you. There are stories of Japan's nuclear program and how far they had progressed in the last days of the war and I don't think that anyone has any doubt that Japan would have to use the atomic bomb on the USA. It is believed by many that the bulk of Russia's knowledge of the nuclear technology may have come from recovered papers of the Japanese nuclear program.

Whether this is true or not is not really the question now but if Japan had developed the atomic bomb first, history would have been written differently.

How does this garbage manage to come across to anyone as credible? Truman did not drop the A-bombs on Japan to intimidate Stalin, he did it to end the war. The estimates of what it would cost in U.S. lives to invade the Japanese home islands was staggering.

President Obama is in the same position as Truman, he is now the Commander in Chief of the U.S., his primary job is to ensure the safety of the U.S., not the rest of the world. We are the only superpower left until China passes us economically and then militarily. We have nowhere to go but down, that is why most of the world hates us.

Well, IMO it would be nice if war would just kill the warmongers, those who decide the fate of our protectors, all the innocent, and the peaceful citizens of every country.
IMHO I would be tickled pink if NOBODY had nukes, including us.

          Take nukes off the table.

Too late but please use them only as a deterrent. God forbid the outcome of a nuclear explosion in these days.

Off the table, Never. They are there for a reason, it is because someone wants to kill you.
