AK calls back workers in Ashland »

More than 500 laid-off hourly workers have been recalled at AK Steel Corp.'s Ashland Works plant as the company prepares to restart the blast furnace there so the local furnace can undergo maintenance.

    "The company began recalling workers to the Kentucky plant in January. The Ashland blast furnace was put on hot idle status in November due to decreasing orders. Most of the plant's 700 workers have been laid off since then. The current recalls are in regard to the maintenance in Middletown."

      We all need to call members of Congress and let them know how we feel about the "Made in America" requirement in any stimulus bill which passes

      Right now world leaders are meeting in Davos and the US is being pressured to remove that provision

      Personally I don't want my tax dollars to go toward employing workers in foreign countries when we have steel and iron workers being laid off here

      Buying steel and iron from China should certainly not be an option since the Chinese govt subsidizes their steel and industry in order to uncut the price of US steel and iron
