Surprise! Obama expands renditions »
Posted By pc25 10 months, 3 weeks ago in NewsFor the last seven years, the Left has screeched hysterically over the CIA practice of rendition, in which agents turn detainees over to authorities in their home country for interrogation. Never mind that the practice started in the Clinton administration, and never mind that the other options were Guantanamo Bay, release, or two caps in the back of the head; they pilloried Bush over renditions as if he’d thought them up himself.

EXCLUSIVE: Loophole allows terrorist detentions
Shows new shades of Bush 'war on terror'
President Obama's executive order closing CIA "black sites" contains a little-noticed exception that allows the spy agency to continue to operate temporary detention facilities abroad.
The provision illustrates that the president's order to shutter foreign-based prisons, known as black sites, is not airtight and that the Central Intelligence Agency still has options if it wants to hold terrorist suspects for several days at a time.
Current and former U.S. officials, who spoke on the condition that they aren't identified because of the sensitivity of the subject, said such temporary facilities around the world will remain open, giving the administration the opportunity to seize and hold assumed terrorists. -

Obama preserves renditions as counter-terrorism tool
The role of the CIA's controversial prisoner-transfer program may expand, intelligence experts say.
Reporting from Washington -- The CIA's secret prisons are being shuttered. Harsh interrogation techniques are off-limits. And Guantanamo Bay will eventually go back to being a wind-swept naval base on the southeastern corner of Cuba.
But even while dismantling these programs, President Obama left intact an equally controversial counter-terrorism tool.
Under executive orders issued by Obama recently, the CIA still has authority to carry out what are known as renditions, secret abductions and transfers of prisoners to countries that cooperate with the United States. -

So much for hope and change! Obama is just another politician who told people what they wanted to hear in order to get elected

Didn't anyone ever teach Obama not to make promises he can't keep?
How is the left going to spin this one? -

Seems the reality of the job smacked him in the face

Obama also left himself a lot of wiggle room on interrogation techniques and closing Gitmo - passed them off for study to a commission
This is simply a way of postponing a real decision and hoping the left will forget about the issues in 6-12 months
Maybe that is what he really meant by "Hope"
There also seems to be a word missing from the endless chant "Yes we can"
Should it be "Yes we can deceive"? -

Actually, people weren't "screeching' about rendition. They were concerned about EXTRAORDINARY rendition, wherein foreign governments would torture detainees on 'behalf' of the US. Looks a little different when put into perspective, ya think?

The article is talking about just that!

"Renditions created a huge global controversy primarily because the home countries of the terrorists torture for information. Most of these terror suspects grabbed by the CIA come from countries like Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, and other emirates where the Geneva Convention only provides a veneer of respectability and not legal constraints of any kind. Critics complained that the CIA essentially “outsourced” its torture to subcontractors in this rendition process, ensuring that these methods would get used without getting their own hands dirty and getting the information torture produced."

The contradictory nature of the 0Bama govt is getting to be rather comical if not farcical considering the 'promises' he made during the campaign,

If this is what 'Karma' has in store for this bunch lets hope it doesn't get worse before it gets better.
One thing I'm getting a laugh out of is how many of the 0 Messiah's appointees are getting in trouble for not paying their taxes. Now if I did the same as them and was caught not paying a large tax bill to the IRS I would never get the penalties paid off and getting out of jail may take years or maybe a decade or two instead of months.
Also I'm beginning to wonder if this 'ignoring the IRS ' thing is a Limo-Lib thing or if it applies to most if not all politicians. I mean 'when you are the govt you are working for' why pay for yourself through personal taxes? Why not let the other suckers, in this case working stiffs, pay for you instead of you paying for yourself. Kinda like a built in bonus for showing up and saying "present". Also one hell of a way to Smurf into a Golden Parachute deal.
