Unlike his predecessors, President Barack Obama is leading a nation that is teetering on the precipice of a depression. Most Americans do not care what label legislation comes under. If it works and is passed with or without the support of the GOP makes little difference to families who are suffering from the loss of their homes and their jobs. The President’s desire to open his administration to both parties and to be the President of all the people are wonderful sentiments; but they must remain secondary to promoting the right legislation that will address the corporate fraud, unfair trade, and abuses of Wall Street that has driven the country into financial ruin. Romancing the GOP and accepting corruption as the most expedient way to stimulate economic recovery is only going to alienate this administration’s greatest asset, the will and spirit of the American people.

Obama needs to do what he believes is right. The American people gave him that mandate. The CONS have shown they're still the same jerks they've always been, & personally I think he needs to knock off trying to be all things to all people. It's not possible, it wastes precious time, & he needs to just get on with it.

The History Channel had a documentary on today about the Dust Bowl in the early 1930s. It gave me a visual reference of what Roosevelt walked into when he took office.-

You apparently fail to understand that there are vast differences between the Great Depression and our current situation.
Unlike his predecessors, Obama is facing a world that has been reordered by the corporations. There was no military industrial complex during those years. The U.S. economy was not dependent on weapon sales and war as it is today.-

No, I don't. I may not understand all the ramifications of this global recession/depression, but I do understand the sheer size of it makes this different.
The documentary focused on the Dust Bowl, not the Great Depression and the economics. It was a disaster far greater than anything any President has had to deal with since then. Roosevelt rose to the challenge and found a solution, and realized, as I learned for the first time, that it was a man made disaster. I may be wrong, but you strike me as a visual kind of guy, all I meant was that the visuals made a huge impact on me, and though different, there are parallels between that time, and now.

Jordan, why is it when we're playing the game by your rules you don't like it. We conservatives do not believe in most of that the current president supports. His agenda, we feel will damage our nation. Because of this, we do not support his policies and voice our concerns. Unlike your side, you will not see the massive marches in Washington. You won't see a day without conservatives. You won't find our skits on TV claiming any of the Obama children were impregnated by the president. Rather than drinking the Kool-aid as many have we're exercising our first amendment rights and will continue to do so until they change it. Which from some of his appointments may be a lot sooner than most realized.

Congress shall make all laws respecting an establishment of religion, and prohibiting the freedom to question the powers of the messiah, Barrack Hussein Obama; or tightly controlling the freedom of speech, especially the vile conservative talk radio; and the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances as long as it's message, meets with and is approved of by the DNC power brokers.

I agree jordan. He is bending over too much. He has invited everyone to be represented; now the hell with those that only want to obstruct whatever he tries. Though I think the stimulus bill can be improved, I am sick and tired of hearing these miserable GOP sour asses pointing the fingers when they have done nothing to help for years.

Time for them to shut up or help out. Enough bs. We are in trouble and this country does not need these phony jerk-offs pontificating just to get their fat asses covered and their lobbyists satisfied. -

the bs is the dems and the president. for wanting his stimulus package passed without anyone taking their time to read over the 600 + pages and wanting to improve on it. does this sound fimiliar . it should because liberals were complaining about Bush's administration and most republicans as yes men. in addition in the last 4yrs congress is mostly to blame for this crisis for not doing or not seeing it coming. ( which congress was in control by the democrats.)
now if Obama wanted real change he would've looked outside the box and had economists with morals draw up his package instead of people that already had influence in Washington .
this is why this country will not be as it once was due to people that cant think for themselves to do the right thing and speaking out against their affiliated party.
didnt hear anything about substancial money allocated to small businesses which i think is the heart of the economy . (since BOTH PARTIES allowed the major corporations to move off shore )
i not saying there are'nt any good points in some conressmen & women but the majority (DEMS & REPUBS) are selfish, corrupt and are beholden to special interest groups.
if the majority of americans can see this and start looking into other parties then the American people will again start to prosper (this includes u spadecaller)
BTW spadecaller when u refer to jerk-offs u need to include the dems as well. -

"so your answer is trillions of dollars of debt, are you out of your freakin mind"

--But I think you cons re-elected Bush when he blasted us up to the 10 trillion dollar mark and beyond. I guess you forgot that, huh? Apparently it was cool to borrow billions when it was for no-bid defense CONtractors. Sorry, cons but you can't reward Bush for spending and then bitch like a bunch of howler monkeys when the Democrats spend. Get serious. You don't even have anything to show for your hero Bush's spending except a string of spectacular failures. At least Democrats are borrowing to directly help the American taxpayer. ;-P-

We have spend a great deal of money in Iraq. But looking at the larger picture, how much did we spend leading up to the invasion? How much did our attempts to ignore terror cost us? I mean outside of 9-11. USS Cole, African Embassies, and the like. Then you take into account nations like China, Russia and their smaller satellites like Libya, Syria and North Korea. By our actions in Iraq and Afghanistan, it certainly made clear you would be punished if you tried to mess with the USA. Again, I work in international business. The leaders of many nations that you claim hate the USA, liked President Bush. German and French leaders are great examples. Their communist or socialist movements are anti-American and will raise thousands for protests making it look like both nations hate us. The folks in power do no. The one fear many of my international contacts are concerned about is the new trade war being suggested by Obama's people. If you want a tariff war, that will plunge us into a global depression. Not to attack the President, but US will not win this one with the current leadership in Washington. He clearly is not in the driver's seat with the DNC.

More liberal garbage from Spadecaller. All people who have a different opinion of how things should be done are corrupt and evil lying about everything. That tune is getting old. Talk about liars we have a president who has lied about two thing ans is a hypocrite on another one.
Reply
Bipartisanship - The stimulus package in the House the Republicans were locked out of any involvement except an up or down vote on the bill. Obama lied.
Stimulus package - the House version at $825 billion will only have 15% spent the first year. Most of the package is programs that Bush refused to be passed. Obama lied that we need this package immediately.
Daschel - Obama backed and pushed for Daschle until Daschle quit. Then Obama goes on talk shows and says that he made a mistake. That should have been said after the information came out about his taxes and Daschle removed. Instead he said it after Daschle removed himself. Hypocrite.
This is fun. After all the Bush lied now Obama does it for public view.
OBAMA LIED.
