"We have spend a great deal of money in Iraq. But looking at the larger picture, how much did we spend leading up to the invasion? How much did our attempts to ignore terror cost us?"

It's nice that you want to blame Clinton but what does this have to do with spending hundreds of billions of dollars in Iraq? What does it have to do with Bush cutting and running from Afghanistan to invade Iraq? What does this have to do with Bush ignoring those who told him to send more troops in Iraq years before he finally agreed to do it? What does it have to do with us having to spend more money to go back into Afghanistan (when we had been on track to stabilizing things there)?

If you were so concerned with monitoring every penny we spent, why didn't you do this when Bush was in office? Why weren't you interested when Democrats wanted to find out how money was being lost, stolen and abused in Iraq and New Orleans? Can you see why the fact that Republicans and the neocons weren't at all interested in watching the pursestrings under Bush makes your sudden concern suspect?

I continue to ask cons a question which none will answer. WHY, do you think you should be taken seriously when you re-elected Bush? Because he overspent so YOU didn't have to sacrifice anything? Please explain why this makes sense. Thanks.

no actually I think the Iraq war was a huge mistake, I admit that when the republicans took over the three branches of government I was hopeful we would see a reduction in spending, a fix for SS and help for small business but what we got we a president who drove the country into the ground, however he had plenty of help from both sides. The wasteful spending in DC has hit a fevered pitch and it should stop. This spending bill is bad for our future and does very little to actually stimulate anything except bigger government. I don't have all the answers GWB was a let down for any fiscal conservative but you can't fix this by throwing our children's future at it just so some people in DC can further an agenda.

--Please go back and educate yourself (instead of swallowing the koolaid like a good little neocon drone). You people know NOTHING about the stimulus plan. What the GOP objected to amounted to less than one percent of the entire bill. And it's only morons who are narrow-minded enough to think that the scope funding for family planning is limited to buying condoms. That's the height of neocon stupidity.

If you were capable of thinking for yourself, you would have asked yourself why Democrats thought that was important enough to put it in the bill and DONE YOUR HOMEWORK. As it happens, that funding was meant to help states that are struggling to pay for medical costs for poor and low income women and their children. Birth control is only one aspect of what the funding would cover.

I realize it's hard for some of you people to think beyond your narrow box, but the stimulus is not just about job creation. It's mostly about that but it's also about finding as many ways as possible to put money in the hands of those who are most likely to spend it.

With the uncertainty of times ahead, it makes perfect sense to help those who may want to delay having children. Birth control is not cheap and neither are children. If people don't have to shell out their scarce dollars for the costs associated with family planning, that's money they can safe to put back into the economy. People have sex. GET OVER IT. It's your disgusting moralistic tone that got us George W Bush for 8 years.

--You assume that I agree deficit spending is inherently bad and I don't. All spending is not equal. We KNOW we got little in return for GOP spending. That doesn't mean that it's bad across the board. But that might be hard for you to grasp, I understand.
