That is all well and good for those who have never faced death, had a loved one brutally attacked, or faced the loss of a home while raising children...

Tension is a natural reaction, if your are tense you are alert, you are on the edge, you are ready for an attack or something to happen.

Now worry !!! That is a whole different thing. Worry is a useless thing. All the worry in the world won't change a thing, it will make one useless because their worry absorbs their energy.

I don't worry about what will or won't happen, I take action to make it happen or prevent it from happening. And yes I'm tense at times when I'm doing what I must do.

I've seen brain scans in real time video that show the explosive activities of brain synapses triggering certain areas of the brain in response to stimulus. If the stimulus is perceived as tension, danger or a threat, this activity does not stay localized but spreads to many other parts of the brain.

This is very interesting. Stress is a widely recognized problem - but not easy to solve.

Absolutely. I think tension can make some of us loose focus on what we have to do. It could be work, school, or a simple task. If your mind is disturbed by any kind of tension it could cause you problems. When I was a young girl my parents used to argue a lot and it caused me constant tension like… “are they going to argue today?” , “is dad gonna be in a bad mood?”. So in my head I was constantly worried about my parents arguments to the point that I couldn’t concentrate in school. Now as a young adult I seem to have the same problem, except that now I worry about my life, and sometimes it causes for me to loose track of what I’m doing at work. I’m constantly worried and it is so annoying!!
I need to learn to accept that some things in life are not going to be perfect and we have to make the best of life and live one day at a time. Is easier said than done… I should really follow that!!
But is hard to change the way I think, if I wasn’t so worried all the time I would be able to concentrate more. My mother is the same way she’s constantly tense. Is their a condition for this? does anyone know?
My goal for 2009 is to worry less and smile more… Life is really short so why not make the best of it!!!

Yes, no doubt, tension is not good for everyone. We must learn how to get away from tension. Thanks for the good article, WikiMap.
