The Pope’s Denial Problem »

What makes the present case so alarming is that concessions are being made to Holocaust-deniers and anti-Semites, and that this is not a departure from "original intent" Catholicism but rather part of a return to traditional and old-established preachments.

Many of my German cousins and extended family members were slaughtered during WWII because they were Catholic. As a matter of fact, only three family members survived.

This Peter Hitchins' is an atheist; and he's quoting from the bible to make a point against. His credibility to speak on any subject in reference to catholicism is nill, and should be summarily ignored.

But hey; liberal, socialist crap like Newsweek gives this creature a voice. Incredible.

This Man does not understand what being a Christian is all about. He also does not understand specifically the Catholic Church. He looks for the worst in everything. The Catholic Church is slow and ponderous in taking action. It is willing to wait decades and sometimes hundreds of years to change things. Part of the reason is that it is so massive. It also wants to make sure that any changes are for the better.

In bringing up "The Passion of the Christ" he ignores that the last pope gave his blessing to the film not this one. That pope was a friend to the Jews.

The current Pope would be more at home during the Dark Ages.

Frankly this article seems to be more about political correctness in the US than anything else.

How many of you know that jews carried out a massive genocide against christians in Palestine in 614 AD (as a pecentage of the world's population, about 3 million in present day terms) and that the christians had to be protected by the arab rulers? How many of you know that the state of Israel recently converted the cemetary associated with that genocide to a hotel/parking lot (over protests)?

Apparently the Vatican has ordered the Bishop to recant:
