The list of lobbyists in the Obama administration »
Posted By pc25 11 months ago in NewsThe Times of India claimed that Barack Obama had appointed seventeen lobbyists to high government positions in the first 14 days of his administration. Politico provided a list of twelve of these last week, a handy reference with which we can start building our lists of “ exceptions” to the Obama Administration Ethics Policy :

WASHINGTON – Barack Obama promised a "clean break from business as usual" in Washington. It hasn't quite worked out that way.
From the start, he made exceptions to his no-lobbyist rule. And now, embarrassing details about Cabinet-nominee Tom Daschle's tax problems and big paychecks from special interest groups are raising new questions about the reach and sweep of the new president's promised reforms.
Maybe he shouldn't have promised so much, some open-government advocates say. They're willing to cut him some slack — for now.
On Jan. 21, the day after his inauguration, Obama issued an executive order barring any former lobbyists who join his administration from dealing with matters or agencies related to their lobbying work. Nor could they join agencies they had lobbied in the previous two years.-

Personally, I have no problem with former lobbyists serving in an administration. Unfortunately, President Obama set standards that he cannot adhere to in an effort to garner support from the American people. It was a disingenuous effort, and this is not "change we can believe in".

How long have you had this ability to read other people's minds? You say Obama set standards in an affort to garner support from the American people and that it was a disingenuous effort...and you know this, how??

Mr. Obama's assumption that he would be able to find qualified, untainted personnel to fill his administration's positions may have been naive or wishful thinking on his part...maybe he wanted to believe it is possible, just like the rest of us, that there are some decent, honest, hard working, qualified AND ethical politicians left in Washington, but he may actually be the "last of the mohicans." How sad for him; how pathetic for us!-

pc25 ... you really crack me up.

You still defend George W. Bush after an 8 year track record of 'consistently incompetent application of power' ... and you pour on your contempt for Obama after two weeks in office!
You are hardly what I would call ... objective ... rational ... or a source for reason.

Obama is a product of the chicago machine, they are old school politicians. A fine example is X Governor Rod Blagojevich. That idiot is still saying 'I've done nothing wrong. He either a mental case or so corrupt he really thinks he's done nothing wrong.

What is making me very angry is this as far as the Obama administration is concerned.
1 First of all Obama going back on his word concerning Lobbyist. Going back on your word where I come from is a lot like lying?
2 How many of US had we NOT paid our income taxes would be allowed to simply pay the amount owed without any penalty, wages garnisheed, bank accounts cleaned out or maybe spend some time in jail?
Seems to me Dashcle, Timothy Geithner will pay the amount owed and Geithner will get a nice nifty new job inspite of his breaking our laws?? HUH? -

Well - obviously you are reading too many pc25 posts ... and watching too much MSM.

In addition to the standard Right Wing Propaganda stations ... FOX and SBC ... ABC and CBS seem to be particularly focused on BASHING OBAMA.
ABC was working their outrage over Tom Daschle last week.
This morning, CBS featured Steven Forbes (former Republican Presidential candidate) ripping the Obama administration a new one.
Of course, these features were not countered by anyone within the Obama administration.
Realizing that Mainstream Media is generally to overtly sympathetic to Right Wing Politics - (as evidenced by the predominance of Republican politicians in Washington ... until recently) - I'm inclined to give Obama a chance.
That is, unless he turns out to be an overt LIAR like George W. Bush ... and does things like maniupulate intelligence to start arbitrary wars.
I mean, if Obama starts a war with some nation that costs us $900 BILLION ... and kills more Americans than the number who died in the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and in Pennsylvania on September 11 ... then yes ... I would call him just another ******** politician.
By the way ... just think if we had that $900 BILLION spent on Iraq today ... I mean ... that's more than the Bailout that George W. Bush demanded that Congress pass!
I'll wait a while before I begin Bashing Obama.
Just like I waited a while before I began Bashing Bush.
After all ... while I was generally aware that Bush filled most all of his positions with cronies and insiders ... and while I was aware of his and Cheney's secret meetings with Oil Company Execs to plan his 'Energy Policy' ... I never really BASHED BUSH .... until he proved himself to be a totally worthless incompetent ... manipulated by Dick Cheney ... and his own ignorance.
And if you are interested in Environmental policy. You should be cheered at Obama reversing opening up some of our most precious national monuments to drilling - a move made by Bush right before he left office.

Obama was never any different than any of the other lying pols in the democrat party. He'll do whatever it takes to get into power and keep it. He's still the same empty suit he was when he started campaigning for President. He has no idea what it takes to be President and run this country, after all the only thing he ever ran was a drug deal.

His biggest lobbyists probably like to eat rack of goat and own many oil fields in Saudia Arabia. After all, it was the "Arab Street" he commicated to first, telling Muhammadans that they have nothing to fear, that America has been in the wrong, and, that he is their friend. After all the billions it looks like they gave him to run a 24 hour a day Obama channel on tv a few months before the election, I bet THOSE Islamic lobbyists have them in their pocket.

President Obama has named an acting Labor secretary while his top choice for the post, Rep. Hilda Solis (D-Calif.), is being blocked in the Senate.
Reply
Sen. Mike Enzi (R-Wyo.) had questioned whether Solis had done lobbying work while she was both a House member and an official at a pro-labor group, American Rights at Work
