Posted By pc25 11 months ago in News

The Times of India claimed that Barack Obama had appointed seventeen lobbyists to high government positions in the first 14 days of his administration.  Politico provided a list of twelve of these last week, a handy reference with which we can start building our lists of “ exceptions” to the Obama Administration Ethics Policy :

    as reported by AP

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090203/ap_on_go_pr_wh...

WASHINGTON – Barack Obama promised a "clean break from business as usual" in Washington. It hasn't quite worked out that way.

From the start, he made exceptions to his no-lobbyist rule. And now, embarrassing details about Cabinet-nominee Tom Daschle's tax problems and big paychecks from special interest groups are raising new questions about the reach and sweep of the new president's promised reforms.

Maybe he shouldn't have promised so much, some open-government advocates say. They're willing to cut him some slack — for now.

On Jan. 21, the day after his inauguration, Obama issued an executive order barring any former lobbyists who join his administration from dealing with matters or agencies related to their lobbying work. Nor could they join agencies they had lobbied in the previous two years.

Personally, I have no problem with former lobbyists serving in an administration. Unfortunately, President Obama set standards that he cannot adhere to in an effort to garner support from the American people. It was a disingenuous effort, and this is not "change we can believe in".

The higher you set yourself up, the further you fall.

How long have you had this ability to read other people's minds? You say Obama set standards in an affort to garner support from the American people and that it was a disingenuous effort...and you know this, how??

Mr. Obama's assumption that he would be able to find qualified, untainted personnel to fill his administration's positions may have been naive or wishful thinking on his part...maybe he wanted to believe it is possible, just like the rest of us, that there are some decent, honest, hard working, qualified AND ethical politicians left in Washington, but he may actually be the "last of the mohicans." How sad for him; how pathetic for us!

I'm really getting sick of Obama. All I see so far is the same crap. I still have hope for his environmental policies, but on the economy, health care, he's proven to be just another ******* politician.

Obama was never any different than any of the other lying pols in the democrat party. He'll do whatever it takes to get into power and keep it. He's still the same empty suit he was when he started campaigning for President. He has no idea what it takes to be President and run this country, after all the only thing he ever ran was a drug deal.

Oh, now jordon there are good lobbyists, huh? You seem to have a strange set of values and a warped sense of humor.

His biggest lobbyists probably like to eat rack of goat and own many oil fields in Saudia Arabia. After all, it was the "Arab Street" he commicated to first, telling Muhammadans that they have nothing to fear, that America has been in the wrong, and, that he is their friend. After all the billions it looks like they gave him to run a 24 hour a day Obama channel on tv a few months before the election, I bet THOSE Islamic lobbyists have them in their pocket.

President Obama has named an acting Labor secretary while his top choice for the post, Rep. Hilda Solis (D-Calif.), is being blocked in the Senate.

Sen. Mike Enzi (R-Wyo.) had questioned whether Solis had done lobbying work while she was both a House member and an official at a pro-labor group, American Rights at Work

fraulein, He was appointed because of affirmative action.

Law school appoint someone from the top 10% of the class, usually one of the top three.

Obama was not in the top 10% of his class.

The more things change the more they stay the same. Do any of you dems actually feel you picked the best candidate available? This guy is an empty suit. He's going to make Jimmy Carter look like a great president.
