    >One of the things that bothers Israel most is the possibility that Turkey may work out a stable peace between Hamas and Fatah.

Hardly. The difference between Hamas and Fatah is that Hamas openly declares its willingness to destroy Israel and rejects any possibility of a peaceful negotiated solution of the conflict. Fatah, one the other hand, is ambiguous. An agreement between the two will either make the resulting Palestinian leadership openly refusing a peaceful solution of the war with Israel or (if Fatah prevails) will remove the most important reason for such solution.

In the first case, the fighting will intensify and, hopefully sooner rather than later the Palestinian people will realize that peace would be a better alternative. In the second, peace negotiations will become feasible.

In both cases, the stalemate will, probably, end.
