Julie Umerle - Arts Council England Award 2009 »

Julie Umerle, a London based artist, won an award from Arts Council England in January 2009 for her project, 'Cosmos or Chaos'. This is a Grants for the Arts funded project which will culminate in a solo exhibition of her paintings in a London gallery at the end of the year, together with a catalogue to accompany the exhibition that will include an essay about her work by artist, lecturer and critic Simon Morley.

Between 1996 – 2003, Umerle lived and worked in New York, gaining a Masters of Fine Art from Parsons School of Design, having previously graduated with a BA,1st Class Honours, from University College Falmouth, Cornwall. She has exhibited extensively in the UK and internationally. Her work is included in several notable collections, and she has received a number of awards for her paintings. She currently works at The Fire Station, an Acme studio in East London.
