EGYPT: Uproar over the conviction of a pro-Palestinian activist »
Posted By dissent 10 months, 2 weeks ago in NewsMagdy Ahmed Hussein, an Islamist journalist and vehement critic of President Hosni Mubarak, was sentenced by a military tribunal on Wednesday to two years in prison and fined nearly $1,000 (LE 5,000) for sneaking into Gaza through tunnels last month. It is difficult to challenge such a verdit in a military court, where the journalist was tried: Defendants are denied the right to appeal in military courts.

but he's not a terrorist, is he? he's a journalist

it's ironic isn't it? he smuggled himself into a cage while all of those within it were, quite literally, dying to get out. that's because he is a journalist doing what a journalist is supposed to do
the cage is a democracy, which we condemn. he came from a brutal dictatorship, which we support. we say we want the world to be free and democratic but only according to our own dictates. more irony.
the people of the brutal dictatorship we support complain (nb. that's why the article title has the word "uproar" in it). not just magdy ahmed hussein
and who do you condemn? the voice of freedom.... the journalist. figures.
btw.... those tunnels provide 2/3 of gaza's food supply.
if it wasn't for those tunnels many more palestinians would die.... of starvation. the sick, the old and the very young are usually the first to go. thought you might be interested to know that
