Special Prosecutor for Bush War Crimes »
Posted By tehranchik 9 months, 3 weeks ago in Political NewsDear Attorney General Eric Holder,
We the undersigned citizens of the United States petition you to appoint a Special Prosecutor to investigate and prosecute any and all government officials who have participated in torture and other war crimes.
These crimes are being euphemistically referred to as "abusive interrogation techniques" by such respected figures as Senator John McCain. These are euphemisms for torture. Torture is a war crime. Waterboarding is a war crime. The CIA has admitted waterboarding detainees. Former Vice President Cheney brazenly admitted authorizing the program that led to waterboarding, other forms of torture too numerous to list, and ultimately, the deaths by homicide of detainees
We the undersigned citizens demand a full and thorough investigation immediately. This investigation should be pursued no matter where it may lead and no matter what the political implications may be. To this end, we remind you that you work not on behalf of or for the President or the Congress, but for the People of the United States of America and for Justice itself.
The United States is a representative democracy. The actions of our government officials are done in the name of its citizens. War Crimes have been committed in our name. Torture has been done in our name. The only way to clear our name of war crimes is to repudiate them through the aggressive prosecution of each and every person involved to the fullest extent of the law through the appointment of a Special Prosecutor.

The majority of Americans agree with you. Those like moonstream are most likely israel-firsters who are desperate to have Americans join them in a religious war.

Poll: Americans want Bush prosecuted
A majority of Americans say George Bush should face trial for his misdeeds, as US lawmakers are moving to probe into a raft of his illegal actions.
A USA Today/Gallup poll found Thursday that 41 percent of Americans favor a criminal probe against the former president, 30 percent back an examination by an independent panel and 25 percent say neither should happen.
On possible use of telephone wiretaps without a warrant, 38 percent favor a criminal investigation, 25 percent an independent probe and 34 percent say there shouldn't be either.
On possible use of torture in terror investigations, 38 percent back a criminal investigation, 24 percent an independent probe and 34 percent neither.
Close to two-thirds of respondents also said they'd like to see formal investigations of Bush policies, even if not criminal probes.

Listen to the liberals rant. It will never happen foolish ones. The simple problem that lawyers and courts require is EVIDENCE. Present that first. Not a dream wish of possible concepts. Names, dates, what was said, what was done, documentation, etc., etc., etc.-

endo - You may very well be right. But that is not a reason to rejoice, but rather to lament and sorrow. The neocons still have so much influence on the national government that they can obstruct true justice in the face of so much evidence - open admission by Rumsfeld and Cheney, memos and legal briefs by John Yoo and other DOJ lawyers, telecommunication companies admitting they gave mountains of data to the administration, testimony from prisoners and US guards, pictures galore.

The USA has to be a beacon for true justice and human rights. We are so indignant when other nations and governments torture prisoners or otherwise violate the Geneva Conventions. What would neocons say if Iran or Libya or Venezuela declares that is not illegal to torture US citizens and soldiers because their repective presidents declare it to be so? -

The purpose of an investigation is to gain evidence. You interview, collect documents etc and then make a decision. All of the evidence doesn't magically appear and then charges appear out of nowhere. This is basic common sense, something you have little of.

This will not happen. And if it does Obama's presidency is doomed.

Republicans will not forgive nor forget if they go after Bush for war crimes, the American people will not like this. The Democrats will be viewed as vindictive and will be seen as overreaching on top of this disaster of a stimulus bill.-

aroslak - Are you kidding? Bush approval rating is so low. People are disgusted with his dogged prusuit of the Iraq invasion. They blame him for the lack of regulatory power so that the banks and lenders could collapse our credit system and the economy. They look down on him for his stupidity and ridiculous malapropisms. Cheney is viewed as a sinister phantom, who operated in so much secrecy. Rove was just a machiavellian Bush puppetmaster.

Prosecuting Bush and his cabal would be a catharsis for the entire nation. -

I'm not sure what cave you live in but the majority of Americans (sorry but I don't have the exact per-centages in front of me) want an investigation, if not for prosecutorial purposes at least to determine the truth of who did what and when. And likewise the majority of Americans support the stimulus bill and 66% feel that President OBama has done a good job in his first three weeks. Spin it any way you want but more people are with him than against them. How does it feel to be a minority?

you truly are a moron.bush is a criminal .he should face justice just like every other criminal in this country.what he's done to our economy is disgusting.what he's done to our standing in the world is even worse.as far as legalizing marijuana that would be an amazingly smart move.or maybe you think a pot smoker should be in jail for his crimes while bush commits his atrocities and walks away free. you need to have your head examined you moron.
Well said but Obama is not doing anything better. He is the other side of the same coin, he will be dragged into all kinds of crimes sooner or later because he is controlled by the Zionist of American Jews and Christians, they will never be able to survive without warmongering and fear mongering. I mean he is not going to fulfill the expectations of the American people or the world but he may do something a little better for the American people to feel free, such as protecting their rights which George Bush took away and certainly he is just doing the same thing in Pakistan and Afghanistan killing innocent people and tag them as suspected terrorists. It is amazing to note when a disaster happens to America killing dozens of people the nation morns the death of innocent Americans where as innocent people in Afghanistan and Pakistan are killed by missile strike on a daily basis they are just another terrorist called Al Queada or Taliban. It doesn't stop here it continues for the last 60 years unqualified support for the terrorist state Israel to kill Palestinian people and to destroy their property. Why is it that the American lives are so precious and the other human beings are not worth a dime? Is it not hypocrisy? Is it not double standard? Is it not racism? -

Daylight is so full of hate, one has to wonder if it the teaching that does it, blind stupidity or just a background of parental abuse....the major factor that builds the anti-semitic personality.

You seem to have sympathy for the Taliban and other terrorists whopreach the destruction of civilization and a world full of Islamic theocracies. You relish in the prospects of Women beheaded, children orphaned, and alternative cultures destroyed.
