Pakistan has them, but the US pretends they're friendly. The truth is, however, that they're a horribly unstable government, likely about to fall into the hands of violent, Islamist extremists. Bush screwed up BIG TIME in destabilizing the middle east with Iraq when he should have been restabilizing a true threat: Pakistan.

I won't even start on the idiocy of destroying, and then pretty much abandoning, Afghanistan so that it could fall into the hands of the Russians once again.-

Well. The Russians got their asses chased out, but they liked to pretend it was in their hands at the time, yes.. This time they figured out that the way to capture a country such as Afghanistan is to offer money.

"But I think everyone can agree the problem is Islam."
You can claim that, but it doesn't make it any more true. The fact is that the problem is fundamentalist ideology cloaked in an extremist form of Islam that represents less than 5% of Muslims worldwide.
Compare that with more than 55% of Americans who believe the Bible is literally true and that the earth isn't more than 7000 years old. Guess what happens when you tie that kind of fundamentalist idiocy with the US military? Iraq. Or worse -- you get people who claim to support Israel but who really want to see it go up in Armageddon so that Jesus can come a second time.
