Organizations such as Stanford's and indeed the cartels love the "drug wars" The greater the prohibition, the greater the profits!

You can bet your a** the majority of American high financiers have pieces of the pie in the drug trade. What is more capitalistic than using military and law enforcement to limit supply so that prices of a product are fixed thousands of times actual market value? It's the American way!
How else do you take a crop that would be competitive with coffee or bananas in a fair market and make trillions on it? -
