U.S. CATCHING HELL ON FOREIGN POLICY »
Posted By jovial 10 months ago in Political NewsWe in the US are not allowed to discuss the bloated military budget, or the 900 military installations. We are only allowed to debate whether an individual country deserves to be invaded. Without trying to sound overly dramatic, I think it is fair to say that people around the world detested George W. Bush. President Obama has a short "window of opportunity" to win back hearts and minds as they say. His announcement this week of the troop "surge" in Afghanistan is not a brilliant start.

Obama had Hillary Clinton on one hand say in Indonesia that they wanted to open bridges of communication to the Arab world. Then at the same time he ordered 17,000 troops to Afghanistan. 40% of the people killed in Afghanistan in 2008 were civilians. Is his message confusing and will it resonate with the muslim world as he intends it to do?

I believe you're learning the difference between campaign rhetoric and actual leadership.

The fact is this: We don't have all the important data to make the decisions. We're merely armchair quarterbacks. While it's entirely welcome for us to disagree with our President and his policies, we should at least understand that our President, both now and those past, have no desire to destroy the world and certainly not our country.

Bloated military budget? What about the bloated intitlement programs that keep a society oppressed by their own govt? That forces people to be a "slave" to that govt. That causes taxes to be high with little or nothing to show for it.

We are not allowed to scoff at the idea that Obama is expanding US troops in Afghanistan to find BinLaden. We have to pretend that BinLaden masterminded the 9-11 attacks, and that the US has been looking for him ever since, and that the US has the right to use 9-11 in perpetuity to kidnap, torture, oppress and kill anyone on Earth that the emperor dejure wishes to target. We are only allowed to debate whether 30,000 troops are enough to stop terrorism and bring equal rights to the women of Afghanistan, who we are now worried about. We were also worried about them in 2001, (but not 1979), until the US placed the puppet government. Then they were fine, until the puppet government proved ineffective to protect the pipeline, at which point they became oppressed again.

Wow. Are you Libs surprised that the Messiah's promises are one by one turning up as lies?

He also said that the folks earning 250,000. a year will pay more taxes, and everyone else will get a check.
12.00 a week?
That's a slap in the face to all of us compared to his idle promises.
Don't forget how he said we would have 5 days to read his bills and be able to discuss the contents before voting on it.
Another lie.
Lie after lie after lie.
And it's just been one month.-

Increasing troop strength in Afghanistan was what he said he was going to do during his campaign. I understand that it may be unpopular world wide. Beginning the draw down of troops in Iraq would significantly improve our image to foreigners and also be consistent with his campaign promises.
