Barack Obama Administration Continues US Military Global Dominance »
Posted By dissent 10 months, 1 week ago in NewsThe Barack Obama administration is continuing the neo-conservative agenda of US military domination of the world— albeit with perhaps a kinder-gentler face. While overt torture is now forbidden for the CIA and Pentagon, and symbolic gestures like the closing of the Guantanamo prison are in evidence, a unilateral military dominance policy, expanding military budget, and wars of occupation and aggression will likely continue unabated.
The military expansionists from within the Reagan, George H. W. Bush, Clinton, G. W. Bush administrations put into place solid support for increased military spending. Clinton’s model of supporting the US military industrial complex held steady defense spending and increased foreign weapons sales from 16% of global orders to over 63% by the end of his administration.

Obama's an insider now. He's privy to detailed intel. He also seems to back off most of his positions--he was already starting to look a lot like Bush before he was even elected. I'm surprised that people are surprised.

He's a man who is bright and articulate and may or may not really have a grasp on individual situations. Above all, he's a politician, and he recognizes that the situation is much more complex and dangerous than he understood it to be a year ago.
He's still doggedly attached to some of his views that would infringe on the rights of ordinary citizens, of course. Like all presidents. So far, he's been rather predictable. My own "lukewarm +" rating hasn't really changed.
I just hope that what he does has a positive outcome.-

I support President Obama in the same way. While I am against his socialist-leaning policies, I fully expected him to parrot most President Bush's foreign policies.

This doesn't surprise me at all. I wish the President luck on protecting the interests of our country.

sarcasm on: Well this seems to be one area where the government shows some financial responsibility, develope a weapon, use it and then sell it to some one else, then call the buyer a threat to your country so you can develope a new and more lethal weapon so you can go to war and destroy those who bought the outdated weapons. Now we all know that this would never happen because the people of the country would not stand for it, am I right or am I right.

SARCASM OFF: Maybe I'm way off on this but I just had to say it.
