Obama Protects Wiretap Program Secrets »

Posted By pc25 9 months, 1 week ago in News

For over three years, since the New York Times exposed an NSA surveillance program that tracked conversations from suspected terrorist phones to points within the US, the Left has pilloried the Bush administration for “shredding” the Constitution. Early in Barack Obama’s presidential campaign, he made that a central reason why America needed Hope and Change. Eventually, however, Obama VOTED for the FISA language that essentially made the program EXPLICITLY LEGAL, but promised to make significant changes to it once elected.

    Obama defends Bush-era secrets

President Obama’s administration is moving aggressively to protect what the government insists are “state secrets” from a Bush-era wiretapping program.

Justice Department lawyers filed an emergency motion Friday with a federal appeals court in an effort to block a lower court’s order that the government must show lawyers for the Al-Haramain Islamic Foundation a copy of a document indicating that the group’s communications were being intercepted. The document has been the subject of a running legal battle since the papers were accidentally sent to attorneys for the group in 2004 and subsequently retrieved.

“Disclosure of the material at issue here would cause exceptionally grave harm to the national security and result in irreparable injury to the United States,” the Justice Department wrote. It said information about the surveillance program is considered “Top Secret — Sensitive Compartmented Information.”

Strange when someone finds out the real FACTS how their stances change. Is it possible that maybe Bush was right?

Obama and the liberal, progressive, democrats knew this from day one but Obama, always an opportunist, needed to be against it to get votes. Even when he was against he was for it, remember he voted for it in the summer of 2008.

Hey, ObamaZombies, how does the change you can believe in feel? Fools. They say a sucker's born every second. 98% of them in America and 100% of them cast their vote for this puppet.

um, since Obama has been president for just over a month only, this story shold be filed under "seriously jumping the gun" since, at this point, its clearly idiotic to accuse Obama of any of the claims trying to be made here by hotair (perfect name btw).

back during the campaign when this vote took place, Obama made it public as to why he voted for the FISA language as it was re-written by the Bush Administration. And his argument was a good one, for if that FISA version wasn't passed into law, FISA itself was then set to expire, which meant there would have been NO LAWS or provisions in place (which is what Bush really wanted) and there would have been no protections for Americans such as FISA provided. Obama went on to say that should he become president, he'll change the language of the FISA laws back so that the law is a true signifier of FISA's original intent, and not what Bush turned it into. and he will. give it some time. the guy's got a lot on his plate thanks to Bush.

so to even put this story out there at this time, in this context (essentially: Obama protects Bush's illegal wiretaps) is disingenuous and wholly idiotic at best.

You know what ther NoWayMan? You are right. It is all George Bush's fault. But, you know what else NoWayMan? It's all Obama's problem now. Regardless of what he "inherited", he ran his campaign based upon his "intention" to change things. Well, let's see this change. I see lots of change on the NYSE and NASDAQ. But, that is change in a bad way. Obama is a disaster. I just hope that we can make it through these "tough times". This whole bad scene is the fault of Soros and his cronies who tipped the balance of the WMF by moving their assets around and by the left who forced lending institutions to make bad loans to people who could not afford to pay them. So, NoWayMan, it is a bit premature to actually begin to measure this guy's failures. It truly is disingenuous and wholly idiotic. We'll have WAY more to write about in the next 4 years. Thanks.

0Bama will protect the wire tapping for now because he cannot afford another 9-11 like fiasco on his watch. That occurrence along with the distinct possibility that the Stimulus Bill will fail will really kill the idea of a Grand Legacy
As for the lying to get votes, well yessss.... he is a well schooled rookie politician not the second coming of the Messiah.
And lets face it, the people that voted for him are not that knowledgeable about how the real world works and he, 0Bama, and the DUNC knew that.

I have to tell you, the more junk you pull off the internet "news" sites the dumber you look. Anyone that believes this load of crap is really reaching for a reason. Hopefully as people see the changes they will understand the truth and you will be standing on your soapbox all alone. Yes we can!
