Greenspan attempted to find the easy money way out of recessions. He boasted that it was easy. He got hubris. Why did a man who once advocated gold do that? I don't know. Was it to satisfy Capitol Hill? To be popular? To be The Maestro? Was it to be rewarded by prestigious honors, to hobnob with notables and be recognized as one?

    A very interesting article. Since I'm not an economist I can't pretend to always understand the ins and outs of the discipline. My closest tie to economy was the college courses I took in Economics.

    But in my world, sometimes the simplest explanation is the most correct. The economy went sour because it was manipulated past its breaking point. The manipulation was designed to help those who have - get more - at the expense of the great masses.

    Its pretty simple, just a five letter word. Greed.

    tadir I agree. Unfortunately, we don't have the third type in the majority in Washington.
