Time To Stick A Fork In Reagan's Ass »

A liberal rant by a liberal idiot. Always have to demonize the right don't you. Everything is evil and hateful. Those rants show you people for what you are. A bunch of haters and calling the opposition hateful only points back at you.

Reagan had his faults--expanding SWAT-type activity against ordinary citizens, hiding a report that showed abortion exponentially safer than giving birth, stopping proactive efforts to fight AIDS, etc. And he also had a way of being that took the wind out of the sails of his rivals. He had "presence" and the ability to charm.
Reply
Bush I was the one who really scared me. He was always whining, all about expanding prisons, and by definition, he was present when a lot of the dirt went down that landed others in jail. He actually managed to remain unscathed, but since he headed the CIA, I have to think he had some strings--or even ropes!--he could pull.
All the leaders of my lifetime have sought to undercut the rights of ordinary citizens. They may pick different rights to abridge, and base them on different arguments, such as safety or morals, but they keep whittling away our rights a little at a time. Most people don't even notice, or even champion it out of ignorance.-

Hilarious in the manner of Hunter S. Thompson who I couldn't help but think of in the stream of off-kilter barbs he throws here.
That being said, It's about time someone decided it's ok to be a manly man AND a liberal! -

Reagan was not one I admired or venerated. His policies are directly responsible for the downward spiral of American power, economy and influence. His implementation for the redistribution of America's wealth to the rich and away from the poor and middle class has come to fruition with Bush and his administration and you see where it's got us. In the worst economic disaster since the depression and with our military might bogged down in two wars that's end seems to keep getting longer and more costly in lives and money, and American influence on the decline. But on the right, he'll remain their God in shining armor even when he's been thoroughly tarnished and now he's rusting on his laurels.

Well here's something we "never" see here on Propeller. An ultra-liberal writer bashing President Reagan. The man's been out of office for over 20 years. For all of your anti-conservative shots and anti-Reagan rants the claims are ridiculous. In less than 30 days President Obama has signed into law the single largest pork project that is being paid for with a credit card. Your worried about people's rights yet you've funded the stimulus with one of the most corrupt dictatorships on earth. China has one of the worst human rights policies around. And attacking a president who left office 20 years ago... Just another DNC smoke screen to cover up their own problems.

Um, the ones inherited day 1 from the failed administrations of the past?
I would add that if you don't understand that the cast of characters that "crafted" the Reagan performance, also crafted the Bush performance...and that the economics of "supply side" trickling up of capital and trickling down of debt along with deregulation (removal of anti-trust laws particularly) is absolutely the root cause of the downfall we are now attempting to at least slow...then I can't help you.
The economic problems today are a direct consequence of "reaganomics".
That makes it quite appropriate to discuss the policies championed by right wing fanatics today..as they are the same trickle down TROJAN HORSE! -

The reason for this obvious they have to attack someone or something since their Messiah is tanking the country faster than these liberal, progressive, democrats can vote for pork spending projects. They had to take a page out of Saul Alinsky's play book and attack somebody. Reagan is dead so he's the perfect target for these chicken cowards. Don't worry their day is coming and it's coming at hyper speed.

For one, there are articles in the NY Times and other sources as well.
How much TRUTH was found in that banner Bush stood in front of...what did it say now?
Oh yes..."Mission Accomplished" ... well if the mission was bringing down the US and looting it's assets er well I guess it was true.

There's plenty to be done with one who isn't very bright. The problem with education is that it takes work, and unfortunately the stupid people aren't too fond of that. That's just being lazy. It's laziness that you can't do anything about.

Just look at the number of articles that people comment on without reading. Their opinion is formed without knowing anything about the material. They're too lazy to read.

1980 was when most of us began to get traction and build a future. Gas prices down, interest rates down, taxes down and government getting out of the way to let us begin to acccumulate assets and build a future. We bought homes (we could afford), built a strong economy and took pride in our accomplishments.

Yeah thank God he took us off the path of energy independence.
Reply
Yeah thank god he took Iraq off the nations who support terrorism so we could sell Saddam some of the best weapons and technology our money could buy.
Yeah thank God he helped Iran get the parts it needed for it's US made military, and the missiles it wanted. (Okay the families of the 37 dead sailors of the USS Stark were not to happy )
Yeah thank God he gave the streets Crack Cocaine so the Contra's could continue to terrorize the peasants in Nicaragua.
Thank God he got rid of that "Fairness in Broadcasting Doctrine" Who needs broadcaster on public airwaves to broadcast fair and balanced news and views.
Thank God for his deregulation of the S industry so the American taxpayer could be feasted upon by a pack of hungery wolves. -

Of course I've been on this Earth much longer than you so I have more eras to choose from in terms of "golden years", yet the 80's were the beginning of the nonsense even Reagan's own budget director referred to as a Trojan Horse.
Stockman explains that:
"It's kind of hard to sell 'trickle down,' so the supply-side formula was the only way to get a tax policy that was really 'trickle down.' Supply-side is 'trickle-down' theory."
"Yes, Stockman conceded, when one stripped away the new rhetoric emphasizing across-the-board cuts, the supply-side theory was really new clothes for the unpopular doctrine of the old Republican orthodoxy."
"…the Reagan coalition prevailed again in the House and Congress passed the tax-cut legislation with a final frenzy of trading and bargaining. Again, Stockman was not exhilarated by the victory. On the contrary, it seemed to leave a bad taste in his mouth, as though the democratic process had finally succeeded in shocking him by its intensity and its greed. Once again, Stockman participated in the trading -- special tax concessions for oil -- lease holders and real-estate tax shelters, and generous loopholes that virtually eliminated the corporate income tax. Stockman sat in the room and saw it happen."
"'Do you realize the greed that came to the forefront?' Stockman asked with wonder. 'The hogs were really feeding. The greed level, the level of opportunism, just got out of control.'"

The ridiculous voodoo economics have been given a fair try.
Those who benefited had their laugh and filled their offshore bank accounts.
Now it's time to admit there is a problem, the first step in recovery is recognizing the problem. Ask any recovered alcoholic.
I'm glad you topped off your tank on the cheap though.

The writer of this article says it all. This describes the Reagan administration for what it really was. A looting of the US treasury, and it's taxpayers.

But it really saddens me how so may people have not readf the article, are not going to look at the facts, will not question their hero, and still to this day will vote for anyone who offers this failed policy as his platform. -

Reagan took over from Jimmy Carter who was the worst President in our history.
Reply
Jimmy left us with 23% interest rates and a bunch of our people held as hostages by Iran that he didn't know what to do about.
The same day Ron got in the Hostages got released.
He not only got us out of the economic disaster quickly, he did it by lowering taxes.
He then built our military back up to the proper size and ended the Cold War with the Soviet Union.
He was the best President we ever had.
Obama is embarrassing.-

This is truly a disgrace. There a number of people just like you who actually are too stupid to say anything other than this.
Reply
It never occurs to you that:
Reagan sold arms to Iran while they held hostages,
he presided of the creation of the 5.5 trillion dollar debt, which was a 500% increase.
He was at the heart of deregulation, which is exactly what got us where we are today.
He removed Social Security from the protection it had so he could make the debt look smaller, thus making Social Security open to the looters in congress.
He cut social security taxes twice
He cut funding for cancer research,
he refused to fund aids research.
The list could go on all night! -

This seems like treason to me, putting politics ahead of national security and using hostages as pawns for political gain. The arms for hostages deal?
It looks like we can trace modern terrorism directly to Reagan. His deals with Iran and Saddam taught terrorists that their methods worked.

open your eyes & do a little more open minded research. Reagan gave us hope in ourselves & revitalized this country with optimism, something we haven't seen since. you can take your bitter hate & blame everything on those mean, nasty repubs. I long for the days of Reagan. What we have now really reminds me of Carter.

Really?
What research leads you to approve of the weapons trade with Iran?
The terrorism in Latin America?
The drug sales to finance Ollie North's mini wars?
The massive increase in national debt while pretending to be for smaller government and fiscal conservatism?
Cutting taxes for the wealthiest 10% raising them on everyone else?
You may have warm fuzzy memories of the actor reading his lines on your TV, but the actions of the Reagan administration never once matched the rhetoric.
I'm for small government (in reality he increased the size tremendously).
I'm for less spending (MASSIVE deficit spending was the truth).
Maybe it is you that should do a little research.
Unless of course you were all for giving Sadam weapons, funding terror groups with drug money, irresponsible unnecessary spending.
This merely scratches the surface, try reading this-
