The Jindal Lesson: Keeping Those Republicans Out of Power »
Posted By jovial 8 months, 2 weeks ago in Political NewsAfter listening today to the Louisiana Governor respond to Obama's speech to Congress and the American nation on the economic crisis and healthcare, I suddenly realized that the Jindal-type of Republican should never, ever be placed in a position of governmental responsibility. Unfortunately, the Jindal-type dominates the national Republican power structure.

Governor Jindal simply does not believe in government. His references to the awful Bush Republican response to Katrina show that he just does not get it. Jindal seems to think that since Bush blew the federal government response to that disaster, therefore, government is inherently incompetent.
It is true that under Bush the personnel responsible for disaster relief were incompetent. Those individuals were selected for entirely political and ideological reasons. They did not believe in government. Essentially, they were Jindal-type Republicans! They were Bush Republicans!
If you believe government will always fail, you are very likely going to fail in the management of government. If politics, ideology and achieving power take precedence over implementing sound policy in your value system, you are a poor candidate for being good at managing government agencies or programs.
Yep!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That sure does describe the flotsam of the last 40 years of Republican failure.
To them it is all about less control so the wealthy can do whatever they please.
Kind of like "old man Potter" in "It's a Wonderful Life" The Republicans think business knows what is best for America. LMAO hahahahahahahahhaaaaa
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm ???? I wonder how they would feel when there are less restrictions and they receive food poisoned with bacteria, or medicines that not only don't work but make ya more ill, or laws protecting companies from patent infringements.
Because we all know governmenrt doesn't work. So the backwater States with fewer tax payers would still be driving on mud highways instead of interstates and trade with them would virtually become non existant.
Yep that is your GOP. Stupidity beyond belief !!!!

Well maybe it is - but the real question is:
Does it HAVE to be?
If the answer to that is yes then I guess we go back to living in our own caves and pouring boiling oil on those who try to take them away from us. -

Listening to his speech was like taking a stroll in the twilight zone. I don't know who on earth he was talking about, but it certainly wasn't the GOP. They have offered NOTHING to resolve issues over many years, including health care. Matter of fact, they made costs worse by denying Medicare patients the opportunity to buy cheaper drugs through generic brands. Of course, that further erodes the social security fund.

They couldn't put anyone from mainstream GOP to make that ridiculous speech. The laughter would have drowned them out. I just looked at him and laughed, filing him in the dolt category. Because he's a relative unknown, I guess the GOP thought people would see him as separate from what the GOP has saddled us with. Didn't work with me.-

They might have put him on to show that there are minorities in the Republican Party. After watching the Rep convention last year there had to be doubts among the American public that there were any. (All I saw was old white farts)

I concur. I watched his little party line speech after the address and was amazed at the surrealism. There was much party rhetoric and a lot of misinformation to be had from his rehearsed diatribe. My belief and respect for the Republican Party as a whole is near zero. However, I do have some respect for the republican governors who are speaking out against the party line. Personally, Jintal's pre-nomination speech for presidential candidate in 2012 was very unimpressive and shows signs of more decline for the GOP.-

Oh, I absolutely agree. Those governors are doing the jobs they were elected to do, & I respect them as well. It's a little early in the game (one month out!) for the GOP to start campaigning, and that's exactly what they're doing. Campaigning for 2012, & the hell with the country for another four years. All they care about is their power, and nothing more.

How much longer can these Right Wing Politicians play the "Government is Inherently Bad" card?
Look, America should take these guys at their word ... when you say Government is NOT the answer ... we need to ask them ... "So why are you in Government?"
Why would America expect anything but incompetent management from people who claim that Government is BAD ... ?
It's like having a choice between 2 Dog Catchers.
Candidate R claims that he hates dogs and the whole idea of managing them.
Candidate D claims that he sees values in dogs but recognizes that there must be effective management controls to prevent anarchy.
.
Yes, I know ... there would STILL be people would vote for Candidate R if he claimed he would cut taxes.

If he/they feel that way, why do they want such high positions in the governmental process?
The cons offer no solutions, and spew hatred at anyone who does! Bobby Jindal is laughable, sad and after being exposed to him, i have to wonder about the intelligence of the people who voted for him!-

and
if your party had all the good ideas. you had 6 years.. 6 years of unfettered power to initiate them... .. or did you JUST come up with them... -

What was wierd about the rebuttal is that is had almost nothing to do with Obama's speech or the stimulus bill. Just the usual talking points including, "Dems want to cut funding to the troops" which is untrue and off point.
Reply
Of course, the Presidents speech was hard to rebut because it was short on content and long on the soaring rhetoric, but that's another story.-

--What specifically were you looking for in terms of "content"? What specifically would have made the speech more effective? Any pinhead can bleat generalizations and take potshots from the sidelines. Since you're such a thoughtful critic of speeches, maybe you can tell us how it could've been better. Specifically. ;-P

In the face of the Obama effect, Repubs are scared to speak the truth which is the Democrats are just doing what we all knew they would do if they ever regained control in Washington. We knew what Democrats were about:
Reply
* Wealth confiscation and redistribution
* Centralized power in Washington
* Combating individualism
* Promoting the collective
* Strengthening labor unions
* Weakening business management
* Demonizing CEOs
* Condemnation of capitalism and economic liberty.
* Ending self-reliance
* Promoting government dependence
When the Republicans stand up and fight against the liberal crap, things will turn around for them.
The point here is that it is somewhat useless to slam Democrats for being Democrats. We knew the Democrats were snakes when we picked them up. Democrats didn't con us. Democrats didn't fool us. They may have fooled the ignoranus voters who bought this "Change You Can Believe In" crap .. but not us. It was the Republicans who conned us. We didn't think they would turn out to be Democrats with nicer suits ... but that became our reality.-

And you have yourself to blame because you have supported them.
Would you like me to tie many of your points to the republicans also?
They are two peas in one pod and while people follow the rhetoric of radio entertainment, the republicans will continue the path they are on.
Witness the support for McCain when 4 months prior, there were pledges that there would never be support for McCain. If that is the type of leadership you follow, there is trouble. -

It's funny to me that the libs have selective memories. It was in 2006 that the dems took over the congress, they seem to 'forget' that THEY are the reason for this WHOLE financial mess this country is in. Yes, Bush did contribute, but you can thank Barney 'gaywad' Frank for the housing failure. You can go back as far as Carter for the mortgage crisis.

As far as Jindal is concerned, he is a great improvement over the last governor of LA. She was a total failure as a leader. She sat on her hands before and after Katrina, along with the 'mayor' of the 'chocolate city'. It is THEIR fault that those poor people were trapped in N.O. during the storm. I am SO sick of useless people making fun of those of us who live in the South. I am a Republican(conservative), white, southern female. Born and raised in the great state of Mississippi and PROUD of it. Do you think northerners DON'T have an accent? REALLY? Can you say, talk through your nose. If you were outside when it rained, you'd drown. (southern saying for, you're stuck up). Libs get scared when someone who doesn't kiss up to THEIR view points, actually is popular. If Jindal was not born in the U.S. he cannot be president, OH!! I forgot, Obama did it, so maybe Jindal Will be president one day. Libs hate Conservatives because we actually stand for something besides big government. We stand for God and country. Always take care of your family first, then your friends and neighbors. YES!! I'll be a 'typical white person' 'clinging to my guns and my religion'. I keep my guns, you all can keep the 'change'. Have a GREAT day all!!!!!-

They had a majority of like 2 in Congress in 2006.. Tell me, exactly what could they do with that humongous majority?? NOTHING without the support of some of the cons..
Reply
And exactly what do you mean by "chocolate city"?
Last i heard, Hawaii is a state, Obama was born in Hawaii. Now if you want to nit pick, McCain wasn't born in the U.S., but i won't question his citizenship because his father was in the military! Maybe you need to check out your history.
Oh and if you cons are so concerned about your friends and neighbors, why are you so against paying taxes.. God knows Mississippi is one of the poorest states in the country, with many on welfare, being at the bottom of the list in education. I think you need to get a clue!

When more people are out of work, and on the street because their homeless, when you can't pay your taxes because they're SO high, and you are paying for illegals to get medical care, get educations so MORE of them can take your jobs, when this country is a socialist country, and Obama is a dictator because he disolved the republican party and made himself president forever, when you wake up one morning and have NO rights, you cannot speak your mind or disagree with him because he signed a law saying we are not allowed to speak against him, when our kids are commies and turn in their own family and friends for believing another way, when we are ALL standing in bread lines 'hoping' for a loaf of bread, or are not allowed our ration of fuel for our car because we went a mile over our limit for the week, when we are praying to allah,(I'll NEVER do), when 'big brother' is watching EVERY move you make and listening to EVERY word you say, when our students are sent to 'military' camps to be indoctrinated to be liberals who don't believe in ANYTHING, but big governnment, when that day happens, I hope ALL you libs can pat yourselves on the back, and will be able to look yourselves in the mirror without getting sick at what you've done to ALL of us, I just hope you can live with the decision that you've made. They affect ALL of us, not just a few 'rich people'.

The guy who wrote this article is clearly an idiot. On a good day. Expanding unemployment is the BEST way to stimulate the economy? Seriously? The BEST way? The guy is too stupid to take seriously. Certainly he is too dumb to be criticizing a Rhodes Scholar - or even a high school economics teacher for that matter.
