Unhinged in 30 days: The right-wing media's Obama era implosion »
Posted By mesodude 8 months, 2 weeks ago in Political NewsThe Republican Noise Machine doesn't need the customary 100 days to size up the new president. Right-wing commentators barely needed 30 days to come to their conclusion that they hate everything Barack Obama stands for.

Very Good mesodude, the story tells the truth, and to Republicans the truth hurts. Their not just loco they are retaeted, what I have heard them say if I could put my hand inside this computer there would be a lot of knots on some of their heads. Good post.

I am not surprised by this response because I could see for most of the last 8 years that right wingers didn't grasp (and still don't grasp) the depth of outrage from those of us left of center regarding the railroading of Bill Clinton and the theft of an election in 2000. They refuse to acknowledge that they seized power based on having convinced a large number of Americans that the Democrats had a lock on immorality and then when they got into power they rewarded people like adulterer Newt Gingrich for having brought down Bill Clinton.
Reply
Right wingers continue to claim that they were outraged because Bill Clinton lied under oath. That was soooooo egregious, they say. So then why don't they have anything to say when Republicans spend the last 8 years *ignoring* subpoenas and declaring themselves innocent of all wrongdoing? If Democrats had simply done that and challenged the election of 2000 for months on end (ala Coleman vs Franken) things would have turned out very different.
Bush barely squeaked into office and this was viewed by cons as a "mandate" for change. Did anyone on Air America encourage half of America to start a civil war or a "revolution"? I don't remember that happening. And here we have Obama with a decisive victory over McCain and now that's exactly what we're hearing from the right. The villagers have their torches ready for Obama when they should be aimed at thsoe who dragged their party down. -

That's okay. The angrier the today's "mainstream" Republicans like Beck, Limbaugh and Malkin get, the more everyone else sees what true wackos they are. Maybe the real Republican party, the silent majority, if you will, will realize they need to refocus their priorities and distance themselves from the noisy freaks.

They are not "wacko's" to their supporters. That's the problem. They are the real Republican party. With their closeted racism and disdain for complex thinking. The real unseen story is the rise of right wing hate groups in general since Obama's election and the fact that they have bought up huge amounts of ammunition. The reason given is the fact the believe it will soon be unavailable. I know some of these unhinged types who own hundreds of firearms. They claim they will bunker down and fight if federal agants ever show up.

The problem is that these people ARE crazy and paranoid. They have been horribly influenced by these right wing infotainers. And they wrap themselves in the flag whenever questioned and call themselves "patriots". But the type of society they desire has nothing to do with liberty. They are...but will never publicly admit to being proponents of the actions of Eric Rudolph and Timothy McVey. Their private talk is coldly racist.
Their best hope for any power rests in an anarchist society. They need extreme governmental failure to succeed. It is the only way they could ever get a candidate like Palin elected. But it is certainly not something to dismiss. We have seen this scenario unfold before. Never with positive results. -

Have you noticed now Newt Gingrich is trying desperately to insert himself and his ideology back into the conversation? WHY do media outlets give voice to a$$holes like Gingrich and Tom Delay? They were both disgraced. WHY should they have a say in anything? Because they were Republican Demi-Gods. Corrupt and despicable... that's why the Repubs liked them. I have come to the conclusion that Republicans simply LOVE TO HATE!

The tactic of spreading hate and disinformation worked in the past. Now the neocon base is trying to ratchet it up more in hopes of success. Like their collective intelligence they have a limited arsenal so all they can imagine doing is more of the same which like their politics is a failure. I do hope they keep it up though, perhaps they will drown in their own excrement.

Beau and Newenglander (that sounds like a cool name for a wine distributor, btw), I agree with you both. In terms of the black vote, I think this current maniacal behavior from the right represents the nail in the coffin. I also find it surprising that no one in the GOP seems capable of countering Rush and telling these people to tone down their rhetoric (or face permanent exile). Someone needs to tell them that they seem like snarling, rabid pitbulls compared to Obama's calm and levelheadedness.

Most of these people have simply proven beyond the shadow of a doubt that they are incapable of learning anything from past experience. one hears the same old rants and talking points spew from the Republiclowns as if they have something relevant to say. The more marginalized they become the more they foam at the mouth. Individuals like Rush Limp-Bag and Hannity(Ball of Hate) etc. have never had an original thought in their lives. These mush brained fools troll through life parroting the ideas spoon fed to them by whoever might be coughing up the money to get the talking points out there. They care not for this country but only getting their own narcissism fix every day. Hence the I say from here on out they need to known as Republiclowns. Because the are.

A quick look at http://www.arbitron.com/radio_stations/home.htm shows me that talk radio is on the rise dramatically. For example, New York, WABC - a known conservative station which the Hannity show originates from has the following stats:
Reply
/DEC 08/ HOL 08/ JAN 09
/3.6 / 3.5 / 4.2
In contrast, newspaper media is seriously declining. (I don't think I need to post the data about the Colorado paper closing and the San Francisco paper about to close).
This morning, I heard a local news-talk (conservative) radio host say his numbers were "rising incredibly" and he thanked his audience.
And it's no coincedence that the market seems to dive every time our President makes a statement.
Overall, I'm pointing to events which suggest that....perhaps...the conservative agenda is being adopted again. The problem Republicans had in the past is that they promised to be conservative, but were not. Well, now that many of them are out of office, they can reclaim the title. Especially since the spending right now, in the last 5 weeks, has been overwhelming.
I won't attack President Obama personally, but without a doubt, he is not adhering to any fiscal conservative agenda. And I think that is why conservatism (not necessarily Republicans) is gaining ground at such a rapid rate.-

Wow! Don't you realize it is just misanthropes finding a common goal. Hating Obama. I could have made millions if you had been willing to bet me that talk radio would not rise with an Obama win. They needed a foil. Bush was no help to their ratings.

More wacko sheep to be misled by these disgraceful shepherds. Nothing that will benefit America.
Wonder if you could name a single way that talk radio has recently benefitted this country?

Liberal references to Hitler when talking about Bush had more to do with Hitler's propaganda machine. Well, the right wing haters have been using Herr Goebbels principals for years and it is becoming more and more shrill now that they are on the losing end. Be wary America. Don't buy into their crap! Stand your ground! Stand for truth, not the swill they are peddling!

Well if the average liberal had a third brain particle they might understand that what Obama bin Laden and Nancy Pelosi are trying to do is in fact turn us into a socialist nation. But w/their appalling arrogance the average nazi liberal can't see that. But I know better. The liberals do know what they are doing and do want a socialist nation. W/what I hear the far left loons saying it must be true. And if U can't deal w/what we say then too bad. U nazi liberals said and printed all kinds of vile things about Bush then patted yourselves on the back for your arrogance. Now a Dem is in the Oval Office and we can whatever the heck we want and if U don't like it then too bad. If U can't deal w/it I suggest U go to Pansies.com or WishfulThinking.com

why would anyone be surprised by this hate. It is what the republican party has been using for years to stay in power. The McCain campaign was not the start of it but it sure didn't try to lessen it. They know they are loosing and that the country is moving on without them and they are scared to death. It is very troubling knowing how all this hate could get out of control

Give McCain some credit. When he spoke up at the town hall meeting and asked the audience to show respect for Obama. They were having none of it. Just flat out nasty people. That is how I will feel for a long time about some of the people I know. Vulgar, hateful, racist. Nothing I could ever respect.

It was Palin that really carried the hate banner. I went to one of her rallies just to see what was up. Of course the crowd was composed of white Christian Americans. When she came to stage to the strains of "Redneck Woman' you knew this wasn't a diversity rally. I felt like Winston Smith watching the 3-minute hate. They cheered every nasty talking point. Sneered and jeered just like the proletariat. Palin kept smiling and pressing on. I was sitting there thinking "this is a Christian role model?" Maybe at the inquistions! Clearly these people should never be in charge. They do not represent America instead a specific segment of the populaton.

Facts or arguments of substance have never been a deterrent to right wing talk show hosts nor Bush and Co. Down is where Bush left us and now we need to rise up. But if you aren't willing to get up, then stay behind by all means and breath what we leave behind for you to wallow in.

or, at the very least, if somebody scrutinizes obama, then it must be baseless and it must be because they are from the "right." not because there was anything worth scrutinizing.

I love it when the liberal, progressive, democrats post propaganda from the left wing rag "media matters" and then try to pass it off as truth. It makes me happy to see you little twits so breathlessly happy for a few minutes. Thanks for the laugh guys but you really need to stop drinking that kooky kool aid.

from factcheck.org, about your perfect President:
Reply
President Obama's first speech to a joint session of Congress was stuffed with signals about the new direction his budget will take and meant-to-be reassuring words about the economy. But it was also peppered with exaggerations and factual misstatements.
* He said "we import more oil today than ever before." That's untrue. Imports peaked in 2005 and are substantially lower today.
* He claimed his mortgage aid plan would help "responsible" buyers but not those who borrowed beyond their means. But even prominent defenders of the program including Fed Chairman Bernanke and FDIC chief Bair concede foolish borrowers will be aided, too.
* He said the high cost of health care "causes a bankruptcy in America every 30 seconds." That's at least double the true figure.
* He flubbed two facts about American history. The U.S. did not invent the automobile, and the transcontinental railroad was not completed until years after the Civil War, not during it.
* He claimed that his stimulus plan "prevented the layoffs" of 57 police officers in Minneapolis. In fact, it's far more complicated than that, and other factors are also helping to save police jobs.
The president also repeated some strained claims we've critiqued before. -
